OK, this game has been out for almost a year now, but because demand from the kickstarter was so high, it has been hard to obtain a copy of the Starter Set since then. I finally picked up a copy at a con last weekend, and I posted my first impressions and a walkthrough of my first game here: link

Very nice write up. I have not played it but it did seem all the counters can get very fiddly – if the map gets bumped all the counters bounce and you have to remember what was where. Seems like a paper roster would have been a superior solution. |

I'd like to try out a program that could store all the various conditions and status
I loved the game play but the fiddly bits were a little annoying especially if there a wandering 3 year old in the room |

I like it as well – we have only played one game so far, with the Missus, me, the Little Prince and his best bud squaring off – you are quite right, with more ships the damage racks up real quick! |

It is a quick fun game where you don't have to paint the minis. We've played games with four ships on each side. |

I bought my first copy of the game a few days ago. The ships' masts are just too fragile. The box I purchased showed the models ships in pristine condition, but when I opened up the clear protective cover, two of the ships had broken masts. I exchanged "Sails of Glory" for a new "Mars Attacks!" game. I hope Ares redesigns the ships to make them more durable… |

The fragile mast issue had been corrected in subsequent production runs |

This has been calling me. I have chosen not to listen to it at the moment. Because I am the might of individual who would want enouhg ships to fight large battles. |

I got in on the Kickstarter. I played it one time. It works ok, but man all those chits.. I have been thinking about making some kind of clear plastic cover for the ship record board, and marking hits off with a grease pencil. The stacks of hit chits are just annoying. |

I enjoy this game also but HATE all the pieces. I scanned and printed out all the ship boards and then laminated them and use dry erase to track damage and such. Works much better. |
