How many of you are playing this? Looks fun. How do you organise your league? |

I have had an interest in pulp gaming. There are some nice figures for pulp gaming in the 15mm range. Mmmm does give a good reason to buy a 1/100 scale DC-3 Dakota, and a reason to build a steamer ship as well! ;D |

I am with my daughters. We're having a blast and looking forward to starting the perilous island campaign book. An AAR of our most recent game is here; TMP link I'm sure Dave or Mile, the rule authors, will answer soon in depth. But until then, we think the rules are very elegant and have been organizing our leagues simply at first until we get the rules down. For more inspiration, here is a ton of AARs over on LAF; link |

I built a force of French Resistance fighters led by Marie and Fifi the French Poodle. Took about 10 minutes. |

I'm playing. The ruleset is so versatile that it can be used for a wide variety of genres – not just Pulp. I'm using it for Pulp, Dr Who, Star Trek, Stargate, Judge Dredd and 70s Brit cops. I've got over 30 leagues created as it's really allowed to use figures that I thought would never see a tabletop. Due to have a Big Bang Theory vs Scooby Doo game this weekend! |

I have played it, and liked it so much I built leagues and terrain. I'll be rolling it out to my local club as soon as I find the time. |

I think it's a great game. I've got three leagues painted so far, with a fourth on the way. They don't take too long to put together – is that what you're asking about how they're organised? |
Norrins | 11 Jun 2014 3:51 a.m. PST |
In terms of organising a league, you start with 10 points. Typically you have a leader (who costs 0 points), a sidekick (worth 3 points), an ally or two (worth 2 points each) and some followers (1 point each). Also, there are perks that you can add to you league and these have a points value. How you spend your points is completely upto you. With some of the rules being play tested, you can have a league that consists of two characters only. Another league perk allows you to forego a sidekick and have your allies gain an extra skill. There's a lot of permutations and combinations available. |

You may already have inter-war minis painted and ready to go for a league. I use my French Foreign Legion and "Banana Republic" Marines. They are actually more appropriate than my gangster minis for jungle and desert scenarios. |
khurasanminiatures | 11 Jun 2014 8:25 a.m. PST |
How you spend your points is completely upto you. Yes, exactly. So how are people organising their leagues? |

"Yes, exactly. So how are people organising their leagues?" Here's a couple of my very early examples. First up, one of my Pulp leagues –
Here's my Flying Squad league -
My first attempt at Dr Who league -

Hello Norrins I really enjoyed the A/R you posted awhile back featuring the Flying Squad. It reminded me of the old 1970's pulp police action tv shows I watched as a kid. |

Thanks drummer, that was the plan! |

I just picked this up on some strong recommendations for Inquisimunda-type play, and on the first few read-throughs, it seems to be excellent. (As we're also going to be using Tomorrow's War for larger 40K battles, the similar die mechanic is nice). Leagues – I haven't written them up yet, but a standard Necromunda gang might have a lot of Allies and Followers, or maybe the still-being-tested Minions. An Inquisitorial Retinue might have a Sidekick and Allies, to represent better training/more skills, and an Astartes team would have the Company of Heroes perk, allowing another sidekick, to represent the appropriate power level. For Chaos forces, the Perilous Island 'Dominion' perk allowing access to Cult-type stuff is note-perfect. For a band of Cultists, the Mastermind would work well. No Leader, but lots of Followers. Might represent a Necromunda Gang better, too. |
Pulp Girl | 13 Jun 2014 8:08 p.m. PST |
Generally the leagues have 1 Leader, 1 Sidekick, and about 2 to 4 minor characters (Allies and Followers). There are way too many variations to count, but I think that is the most common combination. If someone really wanted to, the minimum size league is 1 character and I think the max is around 17 models currently. This link shows dozens of sample leagues – link |

i play as often as i can (which is not often enough) and love the rules. if given a choice, the only ruleset i'd play. |

So how would you guys rate the following Indiana Jones characters: Raiders: Marion -- sidekick? Sallah -- ally? Temple: Willie -- follower? Short Round -- ally? Crusade: Henry Sr -- sidekick? Elsa -- ally? Let's not do Crystal Skull. How about Marcus? IJ typically does not have a lot of characters in his "league," so do we just fill it in with lots of special abilities, or give him a lot of minions (Sallah's guys, Indian sepoys)? |
Pulp Girl | 17 Jun 2014 5:28 p.m. PST |
@khurasanminiatures- I think all of the ratings look pretty good. I might bump Willie up to an Ally just depending on the number of character slots you have. Marcus may be a Follower or, depending on how you want to use him, an Associate. -Mila |

Amy Pond! Amy Pond! Marry me! |
Norrins | 19 Jun 2014 4:12 a.m. PST |
@khurasanminiatures There is a perk that lets you have a league of two. Downside is that it takes up 4 slots. "Duo – Your Sidekick receives one additional starting ability and shifts their Health up to d10. Other than the Leader and Sidekick, the remaining slots may only be used to select perks and Associates." So you could have Indy & Sallah, Indy & dad, Indy & Mutt etc etc |
The Shadow | 19 Jun 2014 8:21 a.m. PST |
>>So you could have Indy & Sallah, Indy & dad, Indy & Mutt etc etc<< So may different possibilities! The Spider and Ram Singh, The Shadow and Harry Vincent, Either Tarzan and Sheeta the panther, or Tarzan and Akut the ape from The Beasts of Tarzan, Terry Lee and Hotshot Charlie from Terry and the Pirates, Captain Steve MacBride and Kennedy of the Free Press from Black Mask Magazine, Flash Gordon and Dr. Zarkov, Tim Kelly and Toubo Smith from the Soldiers of Fortune TV series, Don Winslow and Red Pennington from the Don Winslow of the Navy comic strip. |
Pulp Alley | 20 Jun 2014 11:25 a.m. PST |
@ khurasan -- I think many of those characters could be Sidekick level -- Marion, Sallah, Henry Sr, and even Short Round. Elsa, at least an Ally and maybe a Sidekick. Willie
hmmm
an Ally at most but probably just a Follower. Marcus would probably be an Associate. Associates are a new character type that's coming out with our Vice Alley expansion. Associates are members of the league (1 slot) but do not normally appear in the scenarios. Instead, they might provide some kind of bonus from behind the scenes. HAVE FUN Dave Pulp Alley |

So as I understand you can use these rules for almost any genres, I'm getting ready to do a spaceship with a large crew and a large group of passengers, understanding from post here, that one could break it all down to groups that may drift together making for several leagues with in a larger group. I have no plans to try to run all figures at once but a break down of such could be far easier. |
Norrins | 24 Jun 2014 4:25 a.m. PST |
@War Monkey – Can't see why it wouldn't work. I run one of my pulp leagues a bit like the Mission Impossible TV series. Depending on how the plot has progessed members of this league will be substituted in and out. |

That was kind of my thoughts, looking at the posts. Thanks |
