If you're looking for inspiration for your WW2 Normandy tables, this video can help:

There's an unavoidable advertisement before the video. Sorry for that.

That was very cool. Would have been an awesome thing to do as well. And looking at the bocage country like that up close was cool. Thanks for sharing!

(Also, happen to be building a dedicated Normandy board, so perfect timing)

People go on about the famous 'Normandy bocage' but it really is just the same as much of Southern England. That footage could have been shot almost anywhere I've ever lived!

Cerdic my favourite opponent and I are currently gaming normandy and we often say the same thing. Both grew up in darkest herefordshire where some of the hedgerows make the bocage look manicured. He now lives in sussex and I live in south wales and there are bits of both which are similar. It does however mean that a great deal of the normandy scenery will have a second life in our Britain based games (alt. Seelowe/near future/zombies etc) which is never a bad thing.

People "go on" about the Normandy bocage because that's where the fighting was not in Southern England.

jdginaz – yes of course. But when the bocage is mentioned the implication is often that it is a 'unique' terrain. My point is that it is not all that unique because a lot of Southern England is very similar!

I've always liked to think that there was some logic to stationing/training/location of some of the assault divisions – eg 101st airborne in South Devon- The countryside there is exactly like the Bocage even today.
Although its just as likely to have been an accident.
