To what extent was Iraqi dress and webgear a copy of soviet gear, and what were the differences? Exploring extending my soon-to-be-released 15mm Motor Riflemen from the 70s to cover allies and satellite forces as well, and am currently looking at this particular option. Would greatly appreciate it if we could limit discussion to Saddam's forces in the war--thanks in advance. |

They wore both US, French and Soviet style helmets. Webbing
Often very little, some home made.
I have a thread from my Iran-Iraq War project on The Guild and its contains a lot of photo reference as that war is one of my interests.

The mechanized infantry was also better equipped with gear in the South

Iraqi. They're slapping Khomeini's pic with their shoes. |

LOL they look like Bundeswehr panzergrenadiers with AKs instead of G3s. According to camopedia many Iraqi uniforms were made in Germany and modelled on the 1955 Bundeswehr uniform. |

Iranians used H+K G-3 rifles, MG-3 machine guns, Uzis, PPSH-41's, Garands, M1919 machine guns and probably Mausers. |

Plenty of room, in 15mm, for more generics with lace-up boots, AKs (or G3s), and webbing and helmets (headgear) all-sorts. Supporting weapons to suit. ImagiNations galore! I'd be in it. Duck |
