We're living by numbers now. Everyone loves statistics, charts, and tables. Indeed Statistics is no longer the boardroom w*** word of the 1990s.

SHOULD there be on TMP a statistic table for the least read and lease responded to TMP post/poster, as there is already the biggest windbag and most wordly economical poster.

It's kinda like being Ignored, I guess. Kinda.

Shrug

Winston Smith08 Jun 2014 11:41 a.m. PST

No

nazrat08 Jun 2014 11:45 a.m. PST

It's you, man! You need to table.

Silent Pool08 Jun 2014 11:48 a.m. PST

Hmmn, I don't know if that is really true…

BigNickR08 Jun 2014 12:02 p.m. PST

What wargamer EVER said "no" to more meticulously created and researched and seldom looked at charts?

"I want to know Hull thickness values on the longboats on these five Napoleonic schooners"

"I want to know how much cubage on the CSS Virginia was dedicated to the captains tea set, and a precise headcount of the fine china so i can game his briefing room"

"I want a by-volume rating for the alcohol content of various navies grog"

…um, actually that last one MIGHT be an amusing chart

Yet another proposal born out of a desire to punish and persecute…

Tin Soldier Man08 Jun 2014 12:26 p.m. PST

Space Monkey is right. What could possibly be gained, other than the humiliation and belittlement of the poster concerned? A truly unpleasant idea.

Mind you, those are sadly not unusual around these parts.

It smacks of the line about "lies, damned lies, and statistics" because the data collection method would either be entirely subjective or meaningless.

How do you calculate such a thing? Average number of posts in topics started by each ID? Thousands of zeroes, dozens of banned spammers, and a lot of one response posts that completely answer the posed question later, all of those people with results below 5 are essentially noise. You aren't revealing those who are ignored, offensive, or off-topic, just a lot of people who either know how to ask a question that is easily answered or were posting links, pictures, or news that don't call for a lot of responses.

Meh.

Sparker08 Jun 2014 3:51 p.m. PST

Some of the more unpleasant characters on here like to mock posts which receive no responses, I myself have had just the one comment along the lines of 'I'll switch the lights of then?' Now in this case I happened to know the poster in person, and he is the sort of unpleasant, unhygienic character who only responds enthusiastically to negatives in any given situation.

Of course if he and his ilk were more in the habit of exercising their brains they would realise that we all, from time to time, have looked in on a post, thought, yes, interesting, but have had nothing useful to add. I imagine for every comment on a post, there may be up to several 'looks but no comment' passive acts of interest…

All of which is a long winded way of saying 'no' to the OP – not only would it be hurtful, it would also not signify anything….

Someone asks what color are the facings on some unit, gets answer and doesn't need more responses. 2 years and 3 months later someone doing same looks up and sees what he needs.

I used to work in the furniture industry designing tables,…erm…what? Oh! I…um, well moving along now.

Wha?

Intrepide08 Jun 2014 8:59 p.m. PST

Nothing, Skeets. Less than nothing, really.

Silent Pool08 Jun 2014 9:03 p.m. PST

Gentlemen, I am shocked by your negative responses to the suggestion of another TMP table. Shocked.

Frankly then, you may as well get rid of all the tables that include some element of negativity …the Stifle Table and Ignore Table, perchance? evil grin

britishlinescarlet208 Jun 2014 11:20 p.m. PST

I think this table is more useful:

How could this ever be measured ? A thread can start and go off at a wild tangent and get 100's of hits – does that make the thread originator very well read ?

In a thread with 200 postings how would it be possible to ascertain which individual contributions had actualy been read by everyone who registers a hit on the thread ?

I don't think this will float.

Martin Rapier09 Jun 2014 3:56 a.m. PST

The least number of responses a post can get is zero, plenty of those posts on the front page already, so it isn't going to be a very exciting table.

StarfuryXL509 Jun 2014 8:19 p.m. PST

I think we need a Tables Board to discuss this further. Poll, please.

Patrick Sexton Supporting Member of TMP10 Jun 2014 8:28 a.m. PST

In answer to the OP; no.

Thanks,

Pat
