They look rather emaciated for Napoleonic pin ups. Must be the retreat from Moscow special issue. |

deadhead | 08 Jun 2014 9:48 a.m. PST |
Fantasque said it
sad.. Most war-gamers I have met have had a BMI twice their age and the dress sense of a baboon
so girls that look like that this would have nothing to do with them
indeed, only even go so far as to look at them, but with the price agreed first. Nothing wrong with fantasy
.we can all remember the 60s and waists of 28 ins in Levis
.comes a time to grow up! I have nothing against naked (or even half naked) women (far from it)
but
..let's stick to turnbacks and epaulettes and formations. Few real women look like this. No contributors to this forum look like the male version I'll bet. and the Polish infantry girl. I "went out" with her, about 30 years ago! Knocked me sideways (the picture, not the girl). She is probably now the size of a house and mother of six. (She was really Polish and so, like me,Catholic) I was going to go further but,
.no leave it
.there are too many weird folk in this world. |
morrigan | 08 Jun 2014 10:21 a.m. PST |
Very good! And they aren't standing like they need to pee, unlike many figures that mimic anime. |

Is the English girl facepalming because 1) she's been objectified in a way that usually only fantasy gamers indulge in OR 2) she's wearing the incorrect headgear I'm in the this is a bit sad camp. |

Coincidentally Deadhead, at a party on Saturday night I met an attractive young female visitor from Poland who's travelling the world researching her thesis on the use of public spaces. She lamented her struggles with a fanatical conservative catholic academic at her university who would prefer to see her and her sex in the kitchen making piroshkis. |
KTravlos | 09 Jun 2014 10:27 a.m. PST |
Not for minis but happy for the pinups |
KTravlos | 09 Jun 2014 10:41 a.m. PST |
His Poles and their enemies in the 17th century stuff is also pretty good |
justBill | 09 Jun 2014 2:14 p.m. PST |
I think they are fantastic
but as a public service announcement, if girls frighten or offend one, one can turn off the 'needs more boobies' board by going to message boards, general boards and un clicking the display on homepage box. |
Jlundberg | 09 Jun 2014 2:31 p.m. PST |
Nicely done. Could be the grounds of an interesting mini line. I like the fact that the clothes are reasonable |
Lion in the Stars | 10 Jun 2014 10:24 a.m. PST |
Well, for certain values of 'reasonable'. Some of them seem to have been washed in very hot water and shrunk! I'd also consider buying minis based on that art, especially if they're 15/18mm (ie, compatible with ABs). |

Musketier | 12 Jun 2014 8:03 a.m. PST |
@ Spontoon: check out the Ace of Spades in the site header. For the rest, I'll admit that the sapper and her handiwork made me smile, but overall I'm with Fantasque. The many women who actually took part in the Napoleonic wars, whether in uniform or as civilians, certainly looked very different
|
Tango01 | 12 Jun 2014 11:04 a.m. PST |
Not all my friend. Ask André Masséna, Duke of Rivoli, Prince of Essling (1758–1817)and Charles Pierre François Augereau, Duke of Castiglione (1757–1816), they have at their side women like that. (smile). Amicalement Armand |
arthur1815 | 12 Jun 2014 2:21 p.m. PST |
Don't forget Emma Hamilton and Queen Luise of Prussia, who were certainly gorgeous – but did dress more modestly in public. |

What? None in a kilt? Follow Tango's link, click on an image and wait until the page loads fully, so you see the left and right arrows appear. Click the arrows, there are about 60 of these lovelies, all though not all are of the period. Seek and yee shall find rabbit |
Glenn M | 18 Jun 2014 8:45 a.m. PST |
@Deadhead – Please speak for yourself, I am in decent shape and wasn't alive in the 60's, or 70's for that matter. And while my wife isn't a rail (thank the gods), she pulls the pinup look amazingly well. These are really cool and a clever spin on a modern concept. |
deadhead | 18 Jun 2014 4:41 p.m. PST |
Glenn M, then you missed out on the Grateful Dead (indeed most decent music) if you were not alive in the 60s and 70s. You have no idea what Khe Sahn or Tet meant. Yom Kippur is a history lesson, to you. You think you have seen an oil crisis? Funny thing is that "wife is a rail" does not translate. I even tried Google for that. The Atlantic is wider than we think. Hell, the Irish Sea is as wide to me, as an exile in the UK for 59 of my 60 years! BMI? I do 40 minutes every night on the cross trainer, as I struggle through the DVD of Breaking Bad (only two episodes to go tonight). I stand, or squat, as I operate, to work out the quads, whilst my junior colleagues sit. My legs are killing me tonight as result (it was a long session, with a mind numbingly slow anaesthetist
you call them anaesthesiologists). You are a lucky man though. Mrs F still can do the pin up thing after decades married to me
you cannot ask more. Yes, if they walk around Gettysburg, Waterloo, Culloden, Normandy, Salerno, Anzio, Borodino, whilst dragging 3 sons in tow, that is what real women are about
not these fantasy figures. |
Glenn M | 19 Jun 2014 8:39 a.m. PST |
When I say my wife isn't a rail, I mean that she isn't super skinny (like a rail) She's got nice curve, I'd be sad if she were too thin. She had been losing weight after the kids and was doing so well I started getting concerned she'd get too thin lol |
deadhead | 19 Jun 2014 9:17 a.m. PST |
Brilliant. A rail
.of course
You do have to admire the artwork I admit! |
Marc the plastics fan | 19 Jun 2014 9:48 a.m. PST |
Am I right in thinking that he is producing a set of playing cards – I would buy those if he ends up selling them in a UK centric fashion (ebay maybe). I think they are fun, tasteful and pretty. My wife has no issue with such frippery, so I think I can allow myself this small pleasure. Far too easy to be grumpy than happy these days maybe

deadhead | 06 Aug 2014 9:18 a.m. PST |
Must be me…..seems a bit weird still. This guy has talent. Why doesn't he do "the real thing" in Napoleonics instead? His drawings are well researched and very skilfully executed. Would he not be more "successful" commercially if he portrayed those with XY chromosomes, in parade and campaign dress? |
Terrence Altius | 06 Aug 2014 2:17 p.m. PST |
Dear 11th ACRThe jokeresque smile is a turn off.
Well I, for one, find it very attractive. I'd like to purchase prints of those, if possible. Preferably poster-sized and suitable for framing. |
