I have been thoroughly enjoying this BBC historical drama series which I last saw in 1978, and is now available on You Tube. It tells the story of the Plantagenet Kings Henry ii, Richard i and John. The use of totally unrealistic medieval manuscript studio sets may put some viewers off, and there is far more talk than the kind of action to be found in modern historical drama. But if you liked 'I Claudius', you might like this. Some great acting too. Brian Cox seems to be a perfect fit for Henry, both in looks and emotional explosiveness.

Thanks, I am liking it. Nicely costumed, melodramatic history. Who cares about the stage sets, bah….

I remember watching this when I was a kid in the 70s. It seems to have never been repeated since, and I was beginning to think I was the only person in the world who remembered it!

Thanks for the info about YouTube …….
