Found a cool video of her ealy in her Free French career. She had 2pdr pom-poms added to the bridge wings when she went to the Pacific later.

Of particular interest is the firing cycles on the 37mm and 138mm guns. The load sequence on both is shown quite well. A process for all us gamers to remember when expecting our units to do this fast in winter, at night and in heavy seas ;).

Very, very interesting video. Thank you for posting. The 37mm certainly doesn't compare well with the 40mm Bofors in speed of loading and firing.

No, it doesn't. It sure brings to the fore the concept of "Rate of Fire". grin

My grandfather had to fly escort for it once at the end of the war. He noted fora ship that didn't see a lot of action it's AA crew were pretty nervous, apparently they took a fair few shots at US and Australian planes in the months after VJ day.

The French 37mm is a semiauto action.

Interestly the German navy's 37mm was also a semiauto but magazine feed so faster.

One shot per gun per trigger pull. Later, much to late, the navy began to use German army 37mm full automatic and then Swedish Bofors.
