I have posted some pictures of some 15mm Figures who look a little like Star Wars Stormtroopers, well, they look enough like them for me anyway. Purists may not agree, but see what you think here:

Thanks for looking!

Maybe not the Starwars version. But they look pretty 'stormy' to me…

Dave F07 Jun 2014 4:18 a.m. PST

close enough :-P nice :-)

Abwehrschlacht07 Jun 2014 4:55 a.m. PST

Cheers guys, I think they will look fine on the table at a distance!

Angel Barracks07 Jun 2014 5:06 a.m. PST

Nice. I just want to say on behalf of Armies Army; the people that make those figures, they are not meant to be Stormtroopers as he hates IP theft.

AVAMANGO07 Jun 2014 5:10 a.m. PST

They look more than good enough to me, i've had a sneak peak at a few or the new "Unknown" miniatures not yet in production and i think you will approve of them. Are you planning on fielding any AT-ST's or heavy portable blasters? If your looking for Endor Rebels then the Ionage "1st Muster patrol" figures would be a good choice they even have peaked caps and backpacks with blanket rolls and for jet bikes how about 15mm uk "Cultist speeders" but with another rider. :)

Who asked this joker07 Jun 2014 6:16 a.m. PST

They look good! 15mm is hard to see in skirmish type games so these will fit the bill nicely!

Abwehrschlacht07 Jun 2014 10:52 a.m. PST

Thanks guys!

Ha ha, AB, of course, IP theft is a terrible thing. These are definitely NOT Stormtroopers, I just happened to paint them white… :)

Avamango, I have an old ATST model, a plastic one, which may fit in well with them. At the moment I have no idea how to get hold of other Star Wars similar products. Any ideas? I have just bought a bunch of the GZG Colonial Defence Forces, as they look like the Endor Rebels and starship troops!

Grimmnar07 Jun 2014 11:04 a.m. PST

Why dont you just buy 15mm Stormtroopers instead?

Grimm

Armiesarmy07 Jun 2014 12:49 p.m. PST

Very nicely done! I had thought of them as an imperial empire, however never as storm troopers. Good call though they look very nice. As scams go hinted, I've a bunch more coming out soon. HQ, assault troops, light support weapons, heavy weapons and a 'skimmer':)
Hoping to have then ready along with my new shop over the next month. Quite a bunch of new stuff in fact:)

Porkmann07 Jun 2014 1:11 p.m. PST

I like them. However can they kill Ewoks? I hate Ewoks.

Kyn ell07 Jun 2014 1:58 p.m. PST
Abwehrschlacht07 Jun 2014 2:34 p.m. PST

Grimm, if you could direct me to someone who makes proper 15mm Stormtroopers, then I will buy them…

Thanks Armiesarmy, I look forward to the new releases, if you could let me have a link to the new shop, I'd be grateful!

I think everyone except George Lucas hates Ewoks…

Angel Barracks07 Jun 2014 2:56 p.m. PST

I don't imagine any wargames firm has the licence to produce Star Wars merchandise do they?
Not going to be cheap…

No Such Agency07 Jun 2014 3:01 p.m. PST

I have heard of certain fellows who sometimes sell very close Stormtrooper type figures, but I don't think they're currently available. Good but not exact proxies are more fun anyway IMO.. This one looks great!

Porkmann07 Jun 2014 3:18 p.m. PST

Those Tolero look just the part! Thanks.

I am trying to resist the urge to buy some and go Ewok slaying.

Porkmann07 Jun 2014 3:50 p.m. PST

I think I am going to have to bite. Anti insurgency troopers in camp armour fighting those horrible little furrballs sounds irresistible!

Gunner Dunbar07 Jun 2014 6:56 p.m. PST

yes, Ewoks, the real enemy of all things decent, nice stormtroopers, I converted a few a while ago, with GZG NI troops with 1/76 stoormtrooper heads, they turned out great.

Grimmnar07 Jun 2014 6:59 p.m. PST

Hey AB, email me at my handle AT a O L.
Angel, licenses aren't needed.
And in 15mm what is "not going to be cheap" to you?
No Such, i know two sources. One is not producing them right now. The other still is.

Armiesarmy08 Jun 2014 2:06 a.m. PST

I think AB is trying to point out that neither him or myself like the issues around ''not' troops. The best example I can say is..what if I come up with a "not" federal army from khurasan ( I picked a very popular army here) that would have a minor change and cheaper? How would everyone feel?
Another would be a cheap judge dread? Mongoose would be chuffed I bet.

Taking a replacement line and creating your own spin is much more rewarding I think:)

e-mail sent.

You'd both do excellent business as your customers flock to Khurasan for more pose and weapon variety and Khurasan's customers patronize your line for the same reason ;-D

Dunadan09 Jun 2014 7:44 a.m. PST

Abwehrschlacht, those figures look very nice, and suitably imposing!

Jeff W09 Jun 2014 7:53 a.m. PST

Nice work, Abwehrschlacht.

You could always sculpt your own storm-trooper heads and resin cast them for swaps. Good project to learn to push putty around and cast parts.

wminsing09 Jun 2014 4:42 p.m. PST

Purists may not agree

The Purists can go Bleeped text themselves with a rusty blaster. ;)

These guys look great and your paint job definitely makes them look the part.

Anything using 'Star Wars' is likely to get a C&D letter – they are pretty hot on protecting IP as they make a LOT of money off merchandising, probably more than the films made.

If you wanted to tag on the Star Wars name then you are looking at a licence. How cheap? Well at least several thousand dollars – enough to make it non viable for the retail price of 15mm figures.

'Not' items are always dubious. He appears to have taken some other figure here and painted it white (which makes it look a bit like a stormtrooper) rather than produced a figure of stormtrooper and called it something different in an attempt to get around 20thC/Lucas IP issues. But produce a copy of a 15mm stormtrooper and try and call it something else? Well… expect to see that letter, even after the uK result of the Ainsworth case… ;-)

Abwehrschlacht10 Jun 2014 3:22 a.m. PST

I'd just like to state for the record, these are not sold as Stormtroopers, they just look a little like them. I painted them to make look more like a Stormtrooper, but that was my choice as a customer and Black Hat have no responsibility about what I do with them after they leave their hands, so any IP infringement is mine and mine alone. But I am sure Lucasfilm don't have white armour paint jobs in their list of IP infringements, so I'm guessing I'm safe… For now.

Thanks for the positive remarks chaps, I may have a look into sculpting, it's something I'd not really considered before!

GeoffQRF10 Jun 2014 3:55 a.m. PST

I know, and that's not an issue at all and didn't mean to imply that you were doing anything wrong, or indeed Black Hat. Just picking up on some of the IP questions that were starting to arise. :-)

Abwehrschlacht10 Jun 2014 4:36 a.m. PST

I know Geoff, I was just covering my arse! :-)

GeoffQRF10 Jun 2014 4:40 a.m. PST

You can do that bit on your own…

Armiesarmy11 Jun 2014 7:21 a.m. PST

How did we get on to arses from storm troopers?

GeoffQRF11 Jun 2014 9:00 a.m. PST

I'm sure there is a joke in there somewhere…

Armiesarmy11 Jun 2014 12:16 p.m. PST

Somewhere very deep……:)

Vespasian2811 Jun 2014 2:48 p.m. PST

Why would anyone want Stormtroopers anyway? After Kenobi pointed out that "only Imperial troops are this precise" they proceeded to fail to hit the proverbial barn door on every occasion and a legion of the best stormtroopers got beaten up by a bunch of overgrown teddybears. I too hate Ewoks!!

War Monkey11 Jun 2014 2:58 p.m. PST

Why someone would want Stormtroopers?

You have to have large amounts of something to shoot at!

No Such Agency11 Jun 2014 6:52 p.m. PST

"After Kenobi pointed out that "only Imperial troops are this precise" they proceeded to fail to hit the proverbial barn door on every occasion"

Failed to kill the escaping Rebel prisoners who had a tracking device planted on their ship? That plan came pretty freaking close to working out _quite_ well.

Just saying.

TamsinP12 Jun 2014 1:16 p.m. PST

After Kenobi pointed out that "only Imperial troops are this precise" they proceeded to fail to hit the proverbial barn door on every occasion

They seemed to do a reasonable job of hitting targets when boarding Leia's consular ship and on Hoth. Their performance against the Ewoks, admittedly, is pretty difficult to explain.

deflatermouse20 Aug 2015 10:10 p.m. PST

I have been trying to find these fellows on Armies Armies website. Where would they be? Or are they not doing them anymore?
Also, weren't they the company who bought the 15mm Teledos (Not-Ewoks) from Black Hat?

Ralph Plowman20 Aug 2015 10:16 p.m. PST

In April Armies Army sold their existing infantry lines to Brigade Models. I'm not sure whether they've released the Enemy Unknown line yet.
They did buy some models from Black Hat, yes. I assume they went too.

AVAMANGO20 Aug 2015 11:30 p.m. PST

I'm pretty sure that Brigade models have started selling the ex Armies Army Enemy Unknown range of troops, they also picked up the (Not-Ewoks) from Black Hat models but they are not in production just yet but if the demand is there I'm sure that Brigade would speed them up. :) zac

Lfseeney21 Aug 2015 3:12 a.m. PST

Anyone in states covering Brigade Models?

Armiesarmy21 Aug 2015 7:24 a.m. PST

Yep
all these items were taken by Brigade :)

I've just got the insurgents now :)

AVAMANGO21 Aug 2015 8:14 a.m. PST

Anyone in states covering Brigade Models?
I'm sure there is but I don't remember who they are.

Lfseeney21 Aug 2015 12:26 p.m. PST

For me with the not figures it is if the IP was never going to enter into the 15mm arena, then the makers are not really taking much from them.

The most they could charge is like 25 cents a fig, which is not worth the money to make the contract.

Also these IP s have taken a large amount from others and never paid them for it.

So if I did find some nice storm troopers in 15, I would just end up buying more toys from official lines for support, they will still get money from that.

If I do not have the Infantry, would not buy the toys.

That said would really like a set of clone war heads of the various types for an army.
