The primary goal here is to have some games run at Little Wars that would be used to teach American History to High School & Jr High School students. They would be set as a demonstration game. The Game Master would explain events that led up to the battle, give an overview of the battle, or portion of the battle depicted on the table, and then talk about the aftermath of the Battle. Both students and teachers would be encouraged to participate. Re-enactors could be included to have living history encampments outside the expo center and to have a re-enactor present at the game to give a first person account. In preparation for all of this a short brochure would be made and sent out to different schools in an attempt to get them to participate. Depending on level of participation several sessions may be needed for the event. However I would feel good about just one or two schools initially taking part. Teachers could use it as a "Field Trip" to create interest in History. We would use it as a way to introduce the convention and hobby to the students. Admission to those participating would be free. We would also offer free admission to the students and teachers that participate for Saturday and Sunday as well. The primary goal being to let them see what miniature wargaming is all about. Once we have an idea on how many would attend we could contact the vendors about having gift bags made up for each of the students. |

Sounds like a great idea. I'll support, if I can. |

Thanks Rich. The hard part will be in getting into contact with High School teachers. |
