"Patterns of Force" was an episode of the original Star Trek that depicted a planet government based on Nazi Germany. There was never much about what happened before the institution of a Nazi Zeon and how it got there. Original Star Trekkies take on the Nazis |

I'm sure there's all kids of possibilities. What if the Klingons had encountered that culture and had helped them advance their technology? |

There was never much about what happened before the institution of a Nazi Zeon and how it got there. Actually, that was explained in the episode. A Federation captain (iirc) found the planet in a state of chaos, and implemented fascism as a way to establish law and order, hoping to model the efficiency and control of the Nazis without succumbing to their evil. It didn't work. And that's basically the whole thematic point of the episode! |

And that's basically the whole thematic point of the episode! Yup, aside from the other theme I suspect was behind the making of it, that being "we have a lot of German uniforms on the lot, let's write an episode in which we can use them, to keep it cheap!" Doug |

I'll just chip in pedantically, as this IS on the Spaceship forum, that there was no spaceship action outside of a nuke-tipped chemical rocket fired at the Enterprise. However, as the Zeons (who weren't the 'Space Nazis') were from another planet, one wonders how they got to Ekos. I'll have to re-view the episode if there are any clues. Maybe there's some mention of early system exploration. Perhaps they were a lost colony

And the Federation "Captain" was actually John Gill, a historian – not a Starfleet officer. |

You are always a wealth of knowlage. Them's that can, do. Them's that can't, teach. Them's that won't be listened to in a classroom, hang out on forums spouting random bon mots like the bad lab tech on Bones
*lol* Doug PS And before anyone comments about spelling, make sure your own typos don't leave you in a glass house. Mea maxima culpa. ;->= |
