Last night the M'ville Tues Night Skirmishers fought an aerial battle over the skies of North Vietnam. Six F-106s (2 jets were wild weasels) were sent in to knock out two medium AA sites and a SAM missile battery east of Hanoi.

MiG's seek prey!

It was a tough fight as the NVA air force and AA crews gave a fight. The Commie jets took out one of the F-106 (BIG Bing FLT) and wounded another (Turkey Trot) All while "Bama's" Flt circle above and watching his fellow airmen take up the flack!

Rack up one KIA'd SAM site for "Turkey Trot!"

Comrade Zach AA won honors as they killed two F-106's and put enough damage on Turkey Trot 1 engine (see the black smoke pipe cleaner in the photo)

"Big Bing 6" takes a 40mm cannon hit and flames out into the jungle

The USAF did take out one AA site and the SAM battery (NOT with much help from Bamma!) CPT Bing (Big Bing) will be requesting a formal inquiry into the actions of MAJ JD (Bama) on this day! That his after we attend the memorial for LTC Malcolm (Turkey Trot) because he lost both of his planes.

The Red's did well today….next week the USN & USMC will attack!

USAF loss 4ea F-105
NVA loss 1ea Med AA & 1ea SAM battery

Love it, was this CY6!?

SFC Retired04 Jun 2014 7:23 a.m. PST

Yes Cy6…And I am pretty sure the USAF are flying F-105s not 106s. My mistake, I am not the jet palne expert. Caught error to late to edit the post….

Nice planes and game mat – is the game mat home made?

SFC Retired04 Jun 2014 1:06 p.m. PST

JD made the game mat…with a cut out hex template and a bunch of sharpies.

Looks great.

BattlerBritain05 Jun 2014 4:23 a.m. PST

Who makes the planes?

The Thuds (F-105s) look 1/300th and I'm not sure who makes those.

Or are all planes 1/600th?

jdee67205 Jun 2014 8:50 a.m. PST

Scotia Grendel makes them as part of the Collectair series, and yes they are 1/300.
