Steven Zaloga, noted WW2 author, will speak on "The Devil's Garden: Rommel's Desperate Defense of Omaha Beach" this Friday night at 7 p.m. in New York City. The lecture is sponsored by the New York Military Affairs Symposium (NYMAS) and will be held at the Soldiers', Sailors', Marines', Coast Guard and Airmen's Club at 283 Lexington Avenue (between East 36th and East 37th Streets) in midtown Manhattan.

Hope to see you there.

I see they have a podcast link on the site.

Got to listen to a version of this at Sandhurst in April. Worth catching… if you're in or near NYC Frday night! Or maybe the pod -- but there were slides at Sandhurst -- do they do slides on the pod?

NYMAS podcasts are worth the time it takes to listen to them.
Several lectures have also been featured on C-SPAN.

Hope to see some of you there tonight. A Q&A session follows the lecture. You can also attend a dinner with the speaker after the presentation.

FYI, the next NYMAS lecture is this Friday in NYC. Rather than start a new topic, I'm updating the last announcement.

Stuart D. Goldman will speak on his book "Nomonhan 1939: The Red Army's Victory That Shaped World War II" at 7 p.m. at the Soldiers', Sailors' and Airmen's Club in Manhattan. For further details, please go to the NYMAS web page listed above.

It's a great book (I enjoyed it very much) which covers the Russo-Japanese border conflicts of 1939. Nomonhan, also known as Khalin Gol, was the most significant clash between the two countries.

Hope to see you there.

P.S.--The D-Day lecture two weeks ago was outstanding. If you have a chance to pick up a copy of Zaloga's book on Omaha Beach, I strongly recommend it.
