I have encountered sputtering outrage and repeated asking of this question today in browsing TMP threads old and new. What happens is a company decides to release a product that doesn't exactly match a given poster's desired wish list of new releases and it is a horrible outrage. How dare they release a product for WW2 when they haven't started their War of Jenkin's Ear range yet? Why are they releasing figures for Vietnam when I want to play Chinese Civil War? Why does every manufacturer of Napoleonics in any scale offer French infantry in several uniform variants, but no one makes left handed Bavarian kettle drummers? And so on. It would be quite amusing if people didn't seem to be taking it quite so seriously. I can understand the frustration of your favourite period or troop type not being offered by your preferred manufacturer. I have given up on seeing a Mantis to accompany the Baccus 6mm Greek range. I may well be the only wargamer anywhere who wants one. But really, it is up to wargames companies to produce what they think will sell or what they find interesting to write, sculpt, etc. |

Agreed. I am a little upset that ever company does the same thing
Ancients
ooh romans
I tried to do things a little differently. I am not sure it works! I am hoping to get my sales going again soon! |

What? No left handed Bavarian kettle drummer? I'm outraged |
dBerczerk | 03 Jun 2014 1:21 p.m. PST |
I am shocked, shocked, that left-handed Bavarian kettle drummers are once again being produced! |

Why are all the best 28mm Vietnam War figures coming out of Great Britain? Hey, it was our war. |

I remember when Warmodelling released their first ancients – Romans and Gauls. Everyone said "who needs more Romans?" Guess what? They sold really well. So if you're doing a new range of ancients my advice is do
Romans. They will sell. If no one makes it yet, it's probably because noone has decided to lose money on it yet. Remember the break even on a single pack of miniatures may be in the 100-150 sales range. And that's to break even. So for now you'll just have to do arm swaps on your Kettle Drummers

Can't go wrong with a good range of French Imperial Guard either. Being true Wargamers, we demand that manufacturers make totally obscure ranges that no one but I will buy. Or even care about. Dammit! Another year goes by with no 32mm Zanzibari Askari! Oh sure we have the 1874 ones but in 1898 they put the fez tassel on the left!!!!! |

I agree with the OP but the selfish troll in me wants to say
. I remain offended that any company, anywhere, produces things in scales and periods I don't collect or already have in sufficient numbers. The selfishness, the effrontery, the downright insensitivity of the universe not catering solely to my whims is really wearing thin. |

BIG part of the "fun" of this kooky hobby for me is improvising, converting figures and structures (poorly) with green stuff and paint. I'm generally blown away by the myriad of choices now available
Doesn't stop me from going to the Perry Brothers' page or the "Fife & Drum's" page and think of "what if" I had the rhino/jack to commission a complete series of figures from them. Charlie |

It reeeeeeallllly offends me when some company releases a ship or plane I just scratchbuilt for myself. I reeeeeealllly wish they had asked me first. |

It reeeeeeallllly offends me when some company releases a ship or plane I just scratchbuilt for myself. I reeeeeealllly wish they had asked me first. I'll offer a 1/600 USS Galena as an example. |

I don't mind the wide/wild variety of figures produced; my beef is that there isn't a consistent scale so everything is compatible on the table! |

It reeeeeeallllly offends me when some company releases a ship or plane I just scratchbuilt for myself. I reeeeeealllly wish they had asked me first. Yes, this. Not because they didn't ask, but because I most likely spent months looking for one before I made it. Then "poof" there's one out there. It offends me because they are obviously stealing from my mind

Oh, yes! That is my great pet peeve too. I will search for years for that one figure or bit that I need. Finally I will scratch and convert until I have it. Then the next day someone will offer one ready made. You think they could tell us before we do that. Isn't that what TMP is for? Keeping wargamers from scratch building stuff on the cheap when if we just waited a little longer we could buy one for shed loads of money? Of course there are also the companies that have the temerity to fold just before I place that huge order I keep putting off because, Oh! shiny.. |
Dan 055 | 03 Jun 2014 6:10 p.m. PST |
What offends me the most, is TMP posters who tell me I don't have a right to an opinion just because it's different than what they would have posted. |

I don't object to it, but I am still surprised that a company can make money by producing (another) line of 1812 French. |

I'm the other way, I get peeved when a company announces a range I've been gagging for, for, like, foreeever

More Paraguayans!!!!!!! Forget those Bavarian kettle drummers (either-handed), there were only a few of them and they were all named Hans. There, I feel better. |
John the OFM | 04 Jun 2014 11:17 a.m. PST |
Like Alan Alda, I am the go-to guy when it comes to being interviewed for being outraged. You name it, I am outraged. For a small extra fee, I can be really ed off. One thing that really winds me up is the companies that come out with Romans or French, when there is a crying need for more sedan chairs. |
