I wouldn't say this is really a battle report however Gamespoet and I played a few games of Sag to ready ourselves for Huzzah 2014. The scenario pitted 2 Norman style armies bashing out out. I have posted 20 some odd pictues of the game on my website.

Looks like a good game. Nice to see my figures in action.

Those 40mm figures look tempting.

It was a fun game. Greenknight played the blue and yellow Normans, and I played the red and white ones. My setup was less than stellar, but it was quite the hoot using 40mm figures. I'd purchased 4 crossbowmen a year ago because i liked the figures, but after this game, I purchased 4 archers as well. They are fun to paint up and look grand on the table top.

I always thought 40mm is an excellent scale for small skirmishes like SAGA.

I rebased them all onto the 1" adhesive backed magnets I sell, then dry brushed them white and hit them with army painter strong. They look great and blend in with mine. Well they looked great anyway :)

Funny everybody says they are great for skirmish but not for battles. I finally switched back to 25mm scale for demo games of Day of Battle just so I would be taken seriously. Go figure.

Here is a link to a 40mm DoB game gallery.

This game was actually the Society of Ancients Battle Day game for 2013. Set in Italy circa 1200 AD.

The 40mm figures are starting to grow on me. It reminds me of my younger years when I used 54mm. And the quality of what is being manufatcured is some top notch stuff.

Going to order some AWI figures next. Probably just 8 to 12 at first, and for this new game that a certain rules producer is developing. But who knows where it might go from there … lol.

Actually I think they are excellent for battles also. After going 40MM it is hard to go back to 28mm. I am doing ACW in 40MM and also The Alamo.

Isn't that the truth. Playing my DoB game in 25's just seems, well wrong :)
