Yesterday with the help of a friend I started my project of building a Doomsday Machine for Star Trek gaming. It's going to be around 12inches or so long and if it works we plan on lighting it with LED lights and maybe have a small motor for something else that'll slowly rotate. I'm taking pictures of it's progress and will post them once everything is finished. Updates will follow as it happens. |

The original didn't rotate, though the interior did have a shimmery effect probably achieved with rotating lights of some sort. |
Captain Gideon | 02 Jun 2014 2:59 p.m. PST |
If my Doomsday Machine rotates it'll be from inside near the front of the machine. And it may have the shimmery effect but we're not certain yet. |

Just buy a cornucopia of the appropriate size, wrap it in tin foil, and paint
Just kidding, love to see this when you are done. |

That was a great Star Trek episode! Can't wait to see it! |
Captain Gideon | 04 Jun 2014 3:44 p.m. PST |
That episode is one of my favorites along with Balance of Terror which is another of my favorites. As things progress I'll keep you informed and with regards to Pictures I plan on waiting until all the pictures are taken before I upload them to Photobucket. |

If you want shimery, you might consider pearlescent wrapping paper on the inside. It gives an interesting effect that I put to good use as a nebula. |
TheBeast | 04 Jun 2014 4:46 p.m. PST |
That episode is one of my favorites along with Balance of Terror which is another of my favorites. Ditto, for me it's there's actually shots fired IN SPACE. Even got a kick out of Ultimate Computer for just that reason. ;->= And, with UC, invincible robotic ships; who WOULDN'T love, pre-toaster! To this day, I keep promising myself a marathon with Mitchem's Enemy Below, followed by Balance of Terror
billclo: I was thinking similarly, though not sure about inside a 'tube'. Doug |
Captain Gideon | 04 Jun 2014 4:47 p.m. PST |
Thanks billclo but I think the inside of the Doomsday Machine already has some shimery stuff that my friend put in already but like I said I'll keep you posted. |

Looking forward to seeing some pictures of both the construction and finished machine. |
Captain Gideon | 06 Jun 2014 11:35 a.m. PST |
A slight update the Doomsday Machine has been test fitted together and it looks very good I took some more pictures earlier today. A few pictures I took from the front looking into the mouth of the machine right now it's looking pretty good. More updates as they happen. Michael |

THE DOOMSDAY MACHINE IS NEARING COMPLETION. MY FRIEND HAS STARTED TO APPLY AIR DRYED CLAY TO THE BODY OF THE DOOMSDAY MACHINE AND AFTER HE WORKS WITH THAT THE FINAL THING THAT HE NEEDS TO DO IS PAINTING IT. ONCE THAT IT DONE I'LL FINISH TAKING MY PICTURES AND THEN I'LL POST THEM TO PHOTOBUCKET. I'LL LET YOU KNOW ONCE IT'S DONE BUT I CAN'T SAY AS TO WHEN SINCE HE'S WORKING ON ANOTHER PROJECT AT THE SAME TIME. MORE UPDATES TO FOLLOW. Sorry about all caps but that's how it came out. |

I made 3 Quick and Simple for a Doomsday war! link Check out my Trek Fleets. The original concept Art made it look like a giant Squid! with a cone attached to it to make it a Bio-Mechanical weapon! |

A small update on "The Doomsday Machine" project my friend who is making it has made a stand which is a 3inch hex base filled with pennies for weight this way it won't tip over. I believe the bulk of the work is done and for the most part I think all that's left to do is painting it. Once that's done I'll post all the pictures on Photobucket. |
Captain Gideon | 01 Jul 2014 8:51 p.m. PST |
The painting of the Doomsday Machine has begun. So we're in the final stages of the Doomsday Machine project. After it has been fully painted and left to dry I'll take some final pictures of it along with some Star Trek ships to let you see how it looks all painted up. I'm very pleased with this project so far and sometime next year I'll be putting on a Star Trek game with the Doomsday Machine. More to follow. |

Thanks, the Kraken's are a new Race/fleet of Space dwelling Aliens I am including in the new Game book I am writing, They are on a quest to cleanse the Globes of infestation! |

GREAT news the painting has finished on the Doomsday Machine. I'll be posting all the pictures on Photobucket sometime tomorrow for all to see. I had to take a few extra pictures showing the Doomsday Machine with Federation Starships on a part of a space mat. I did my best to take the best pictures I could but sometimes things don't always work out. So let me know what you all think of my Doomsday Machine. |

I could'nt wait until tomorrow to post the pictures to photobucket so I decided to do it tonight. So here's the link: link Let me know what you think. |

Best lines are: Where is your Crew? They are on the 3rd planet. There is no 3rd planet. |

Nice Doomsday Machine!! It'll be interesting to see that in an actual gaming situation. Please post pics when that happens. |

OBVIOUSLY, I meant the model; I'm hoping it has actual lighting, and would like to see the effect. I've got that episode on disc to an HD TV. On my laptop? Meh! Doug |

Lovely DDM, but i have to ask, where did you get that VC`s ship, or did you make it. |
Captain Gideon | 18 Jul 2014 4:59 p.m. PST |
mykilus I don't know which ship you're referring to but I can tell you that the Red ship is a Larson Destroyer(FASA) the one closest to the Doomsday Machine is an old plastic Fed Hvy Cruiser modified and the other 4 ships are custom made and they are: Brenton Durrett Thufir Anton And if you're interested I know the fellow who casts these up. |
Chef Lackey Rich | 18 Jul 2014 8:02 p.m. PST |
mykilus, are you talking about the Vacuum Cleaner ship over here? link If so you've got the wrong author. Try asking Andrew Lawton here: TMP link |
