Introduced my 12 year old to the best movie ever (well my favorite anyway) – the 3 musketeers.

And of course it was the 70s version – not the ridiculous ones they have done in the last 20 years

Unbeatable cast and sword fight choreography.

My favourite movies of all time!

There is a third movie with the same cast; "The return of the Three/Four (can't remember off hand) Musketeers" which is also a great romp! Unfortunately it was the movie in which Roy Kinnear died in a horse riding accident, most tragic. The movie does suffer a little from the obvious scenes where they use a stand-in for poor old Roy, but still a great watch.

@TNE2300. Thanks for the link to Crossed Swords, I had forgotten about that movie; have to track down a copy!

Hear, hear. I concur.

Do also try Gerard Depardieu's Cyrano de Bergerac (1990). A magnificent period film and you don't have to understand French to enjoy the visual feast.

There is also The Fifth Musketeer from 1979. Not quite as good but not too bad at all.

I got a boxed set from Amazon France a few years ago that had all 3 films, The 3 Musketeers, The 4 Musketeers and the Return of the Musketeers. So the final film is out there on DVD…

Has one of my favorite of all time lines…

"One should be careful what one writes…
and to whom one gives it. I must bear those rules in mind."

Electric Wave:
A philosophy well worth remembering when sending email.

Here's qanother geat quote:
MNSR. BONANCIEUX: I swear I've done nothing! Nothing! What will they do to me?
GUARD: Everything! You're in the Bastille, you must have done something.

And this one:
M. Bonancieux: The Bastille! Well, I tell you, I don't want to go to the Bastille! Because it's got very deep dungeons and terrible instruments of torture operated by very unsympathetic men! And they snip very important parts off people!
