Hi, Was curious what others are using as basing for their snipers. I've seen both short and long edge, even on the FOW site. Does it matter or is it personal preference? |

Personal preference. I've never seen a rule that states otherwise. |

Whichever way looks best. |

Does not matter Neither does whether a PaK40 goes on a medium or large base. |

Because they are prone normall I go short edge forward. Plus it helps make the sniper team more distinctive from the other small bases running around. I've also had to mount ATRs short edge forward when the gunner was prone. Played them that way for years with zero issues. Neither does whether a PaK40 goes on a medium or large base. That does matter to me just a bit. I'm always willing to play against them mounted either way, but to me being able to squeze in more PAK 40's on a compressed frontage or in a more limted space like a building gives some advantage to the medium base over the large base, but in 95% of "open field situations" the base size is irrelevant to me. I mount mine on large mases
just looks better to me, but I won't balk if my opponent did his on medium bases. |

Thanks guys. I like the idea of using the short edge. |

Large bases for Pak 40 also mean less teams under a template |

Large bases for Pak 40 also mean less teams under a template Potentially
but that's up to the player to choose to bunch them up close when on a medium base. Easily avoided. Best you can say about the larger base, besides that it just looks a hell of a lot better, is that it allows you so expand your frontage a bit more. Not sure that's really as helpful as being able to compress
but I suppose it could occasionaly be of some benifiet. |

With snipers in particular, you could honestly put them on a 3/4" diameter round base. That said, my preference is for the sniper to be facing the short edge, lets me keep the gun barrel protected. |

It was not my idea. I saw it at a tournament. But I do not put a figure on my snipers. Just terrain a tree or bushes. A sniper you can see is a dead sniper. Lol. |
