I got to play a 2000pt game with my Wood Elves against Lizardmen, and I really like most of the changes! The Treemen are now even more effective, and I forgot to even use their Terror or Thunderstomp abilities! The Cold One Riders tore up my Eternal Guard in a long grind, the Skink/Krox Cohorts finally got into my archers and tore them up, the Treemen took out a block of Saurus warriors, a Stegadon, and then finished off the Cohort that had munched my archers, before heading over to finih off the Cold One Riders. Treeman ancient as the general at 4th level mage worked really well, as he kept healing up the treemen and buffing the weakier smaller cousins Like most of my battles, I was left with only my general and the Treemen at the end
What do other Elf players think of the new Army Book? Chris |

My son was thrilled when he got his hands on the new book and magic cards. Now I have to finish painting his stuff before we can play! Haven't bought any of the new models yet – The Eternal Guard,(and the Rangers) and the Wild Riders are nice to have in plastic – makes those Special and Core choices much more affordable (dollar-wise). Can't speak to effectiveness as I haven't played these rules yet (8th); like a story behind the battle so don't care so much about specific Army builds or which unit is best. Hope my son has lots of fun beating up on my Orcs though! He's going to have to wait until Christmas for one of the new Treemen (he has an old metal one), or he'll need to buy it himself if he wants it sooner! |

The wood elf models sure do look cool. I don't have the book yet, actually haven't bought any of the new Warhammer books, but I have a plastic boxed set of the wood elves lying around from the last time they were released so maybe I'll pull them out and give them a go. |

The prices for the Wood Elf release were lower than the previous releases--not many seem to be commenting on it, but the 10-figure infantry and 5-figure cavalry boxes were both cheaper than the prior Dark Elf and other recent releases. |

Easily the nicest looking GW army. |

I think they are a good solid army now with several options, which is a good sign for a new release these days. Browsing through the book I can't see any that they are out of line against my High or Dark Elves. Everyone forgets Thunderstomp in their first games of 8th ed. After that it gets seared into one's mind. Leigh |

There were comments about this on more dedicated Warhammer forums. Not as much here because why get into another pricing argument about Warhammer? Damon. |

Not a pricing "argument" just an interesting development that prices are lower than on other 2013/14 releases. Actually, it has not been discussed all that much on many other forums--apparently most think it is a "trial balloon" to see what happens to sales results--and therefore just a blip. |

Of course the Dark Elf release was (in at least one specific case) one of the most expensive – $60 USD for ten Witch Elves, which were also moved to core?? Crazy. They hydra however wasn't that bad, especially compared to the Lizardmen Carnosaur which also set a new high price record for a large monster for fantasy. Glad to see that these are more reasonable; might have to think about picking up a couple of boxes 'just because' lol. |
