Aiming to build two armies for the Perfect Captains Greek rules, I have accidentally gotten some Persians. Would these be useable as Thracian or any other forces in the Peloponesisan wars (hopefully as light troops)? |

They really don't make very good Thracians. But they could perhaps be used as peltast types recruited in Anatolia. |

Not really. Differences in head gear and costume. Do the rules cover the Greek expeditions into the empire? |

Slappy, the rules are called Hoplomachia. Gavandjosh, Yes they do. |

They could be used as Persians in the Peloponnesian War. I'm not sure what parts of it you are doing but the Persians were allied to the Spartans towards the end and the Spartans used Persian naval support. |

Maybe something found at auction would help make them more Greek? The Amazon heads feature many smaller helmets. |

Pretty hard to get something to work right here. The uniform is so distinct it is hard to correct to what you need. I'd go either as Persian allies (as mentioned) or possibly save them for some other purpose? |

I think just use them as Persians, as Augustus suggests. Maybe Pontic troops also? Can't make them Greek very well if they're wearing pants (by which I mean the trousers). Greeks considered that both effeminate and barbaric. |

Agesilaus in the 390's BC (shortly after the Peloponnesian War) is reported to have used Paphlagonian infantry while in Asia Minor. I think using them as a light peltast type, similiar to the Thracians, would be reasonable. |

"Gavandjosh, Yes they do." Hans G has suggested what I hinted at. Of course, you would need a Satrap's Persian army of the era as an opponent. That might be too many Persians. |

Forgot to say – a bit earlier than your request – Athens had some "Scythian" archers. I wouldn't be too worried about using Persians to represent them. PDF link |

Not likely Thracians. Thracians in this period wear cloaks and tunics.
WF Persians head gear is much different than Sakae.
Paphlagonian cavalry operated with Agesilaus, but only in Asia.
Sorry to burst your bubble but there isnt much chance to have Persians operating with Greeks, except maybe on Persian ships given to the Spartans.. when the Spartans sold out Greece. |
