It seems like I've been selling a lot of 10mm ancient and medieval online lately. Are people doing a lot with that scale in North America right now? Our local club has some 10mm FoG players, but there are also quite a few who play in 15mm. I'm just curious about what people are doing lately. |

10mm has become quite populat in our club over the past couple years as we've been using mostly 10mm armies for the development of our "Bear Yourselves Valiantly" mass fantasy, ancients and medieval combat rules to be released later this summer. link |

Odd coincidence. The Cracker Line and Blaze Away lines have recently convinced me to do ACW again in 10mm. I've noticed that the scale has very thorough treatment of a number of niche periods. It is small enough for the mass effect like 6mm, and large enough to justify sculpts and vignettes with a lot of character. I've looked at 10mm in the past but it never quite appealed as much as it does now. |

The Cracker Line figures are fantastic. If I didn't already have several thousand 15mms, I would be building armies with them right now. I am hoping for a resurgence in 10 mm WW2 and modern next year. The availability of figures in the US has been limited to eBay pickings and shrinking remnants of GFI/Minifigs inventories. Hopefully, Tom will be back in the States soon and back in production by the end of the year. |

Presently, I'm happy to have a nice collection of 1/144th scale WW2 vehicles supplemented with 10mm/12mm GFI/Minifig infantry (like Cold Steel mentions above). The hobby trend seems to be going in two distinct directions – 28mm for skirmish-type gaming, and 10mm (6mm & 3mm too), for "battle-size gaming". 10mm/12mm would be my choice as the "sweet spot" for looks and tabletop accommodation (price too), and if I were starting my wargaming collections all over again…… ;) |

Are 15mm dying a death then? I have shed loads unpainted 15mm ancient and medieval armies. Had thought of to 10mm for impetus. |

No, 15 mm isn't going anywhere. Cold War gaming appears to be picking up and 15s are just too big and expensive for vehicle-heavy armies. Even at 1 vehicle per platoon, a Soviet tank or motorized riffle regiment will be 50+ vehicles. 10 mm strikes the right balance between fielding lots of stuff without tanks lined up fender to fender and still being able to identify the vehicles. |

Much though I love my 15s, get much above a Motor Rifle Platoon on my table and things start to get crowded. A lot of fun can be had throwing a couple of platoons around, but that is still in the size of a large skirmish. 10mm and smaller lets me fit more battle in the same space. The amount changes rapidly! |

I used to do 10mm scale skirmish but the lack of spectacle meant that I found it hard to attract other gamers. However, 10mm on massed bases (10+ figures on a base) looks rather nice and it looks like we'll get a good few armies together for Dux Bellorum. 10mm has the detain of 15mm but, as Dave Crowell said above, still makes it reasonable to get a bit of a grand scale to a wargame in a smaller space. |

I like 10mm for the WW2 period. I feel like I can field a good representation of a Combat Command in Inf or Armor or a combo of both in a constricted area and have a great battle !! |

4 years ago I suggested a poll on whether 10 mm had peaked. TMP link That was just before real life got in the way of the hobby.
Now I am back, this topic has peaked my curiosity.

Strongly? Probably not, but it is growing. Pendraken, Magister Militum, Eureka and TB Line have all added at least one line in the past four years. Not sure what the 10mm WWII scene looks like though. Pendraken, Magister Militum, Eureka and TB Line have all added at least one line in the past four years In the past four years = 17 new ranges and about 700 new codes added to the catalogue…! We're still seeing more and more people coming to 10mm every month, especially WW1 gamers ready for the anniversary. |

Imperial/Prussian (Right) 18 bns Foot, each of 36 men, plus 10 regiments of horse at 12 to a regiment. 6 10mm foot have the same base size as 1 28mm (20mm square) Sure – some of you may have 720 28mm foot, but can you fit them on a table? |

They are 'just bits of terrain'- they are indeed hedges. A field maybe, something to break up the table a bit – we play you have to stop on the farside of a linear obstacle to redress lines. |
