Okay let's try this again.

In the far reaches of space, in a little corner of the Crestulon system lies a small insignificant rock. When Ho-acks Gorral, the famous intergalactic environmentalist and indigenous fauna hugger visited, he suggested a good nuclear waste dump might improve the place. It is called Crestulon 4.

There are no other planets in the system, but a planet this ugly could never be a "One." Furious debate raged over whether to call is "Crater Face" or "UglyRock" but in the end the totally forgettable Crestulon 4 was chosen.

Why all the fuss? Because Crestulon 4 is the single largest source of the most valuable substance in the galaxy:

Handwavium. A substance so important interstellar travel would be impossible without it!

Really cool, both in concept and execution. I'm a big fan of small, portable layouts like this. How did you go about making it? I'd love to know!

@MrAverage:

Thanks, me too. Here is a link to one I did for normal earth battles:

For this one I made the center section wider and did all the sand and grit before I glued the pieces in place. The hills are not "foamie" but just shaped styrofoam. But I did not make them. I bought a big bag of them at a Con a few years back. I just painted and drybrushed them to match.

My fluff says pretty much nothing grows here but just to break up the color I have some sickly yellow flock I'll add.

The hills can be had quite reasonably from Warzone Terrain – the box surprised me, but really, it is quite an ideal item. I think that at 3mm scale this would really be the business! I'm wrist-deep in a GHQ Skirmish Board project now, but this would be a fantastic portable alternative!

Clever idea! Now if it only had pop-up buildings…

So, has Unobtainium been found on this world as well?

No, just handwavium…

If I wanted hexes I could add that in practically no time. You mark just the centers. To do that all you need is a peice of string and a cardboard triangle:

Uhm…. I think you've got your future physics wrong there, Mark. Unobtanium is what they mine in order to make refined handwavium. I know this because Smade's World is the Human Sphere's largest supplier of handwavium.

This is good, because it allows you to have mines AND refineries to fight over.
