A French frigate entered the Black Sea on Wednesday, growing the number of NATO surface warships in the region to three, according to a ship spotting blog and Russian press reports…

Apropos of nothing, and not in keeping with the seriousness of the situation, that's a beautiful little ship.

Pretty, but harmless looking to me. Three whole ships-we are really rattling the saber here aren't we.

I completely forgot that France re-entered Nato in 2009.

growing the number of NATO surface warships in the region to three,

Doesn't mean a thing. The Black Sea is international waters and ships of any nation have a perfect right to be there.

According to the Wiki entry, it carries 8 Exocet missiles…

Too bad the Russians have like 80 ships in the Black Sea Fleet!

CG: 1
DDG: 1
FFG: 2
Landing Ships: 7
Diesel SS: 1
ASW FFL: 5
FFLG: 4
FAC: 6

Rest are minesweepers or support ships. Not much info on how much or what quality the Ukrainian Navy assets are. Total 38 ships of which 20 are "combat" ships.

Couldn't find solid details about the US 6th Fleet in terms of assets or number of ships.
