Thanks for the heads up! There's another coming in Modern War magazine in a couple of months, I believe. |

GDW did one, and it was pretty good, about 20 years ago
I have it in my archives somewhere

I have a look at the playtest materials for both of them. I do not think the Storm Over system does well for DBP (but your opinion may be different). On the other hand I wholeheartedly recommend Kim Kanger's "Dien Bien Phu" (the one mentioned my Thomas) based on my positive experience with his previous game "Tonkin". |

Well, Arrigo, now I have that one on pre-order too. Thanks for the suggestion. |

Thomas
I feel a bit bad for your wallet
but you will not be disappointed! Arrigo |

Well Arrigo, I had funds reserved for the Dust Babylon KS but that has been continually underwhelming so the money is better spent on getting something that can be played right out of the box. I'll report once I have either of the games in my hands. |

I now have my hands on both these games. Not had time to play either yet, just looked at them. The MMP one looks kind of cheap, especially for the price, but the proof is in the playing, so we'll see. The Legion one, on the other hand, is stunning both in map art and counters. |

So, this weekend I had my first play of Storm over Dien Bien Phu. I had great fun and I will be playing it again solo for sure. I certainly look forward to playing it with an opponent. Lots of thinking, lots of options so excellent replayability for a game about a siege battle. I really liked the abstracted combat system, you just calculate the number of Firepower points and roll dice and then apply damage. No micro-management, it makes you feel like you are Giap or (whoever was running things for France) and you are leading the battle, not controlling each separate assault and counterattack. |
