Found in the attic! Some nice shots of HMS Belfast, US armour and German POW's (painters should note the wide tonal differences of German uniforms) and supports the belief if you had a jeep you got the pretty ones!

Wow. My Dad served in Europe. His units book with the history, maps, and pics were amazing. But they were all in black and white. This film is really interesting.

Outstanding stuff.

These aren't new, they've been around for a long time, and some of the shots have been used in numerous documentaries.

And they were not found in an attic, but in a film storage archives where Stevens had put the work he wanted to keep- which is why the color lasted so well.

Wondering where a person can see more of this film. : )

Here, be warned some of the footage, especially from Dachau, is brutal!

jgawne, the fourth estate shows yet again why it is distrusted by many from the third!

I was going to mention that I had seen at least some of this long ago but jgawne beat me to it. I did notice that the color of the Sherman tank looks a bit brighter then I've usually seen on the game table (or anywhere else).

Maybe its just my old computer, but that is one annoying site!

Yeah, these have been around for some time. First saw them on a special with Stevens on PBS years back. When Stevens got the go ahead for the filming, the first thing he did was contact Technicolor and have them send as much color film stock as they had (and keep it coming). Really interesting stuff.

Yes, I too remember seeing some of Stevens' film on TV a few years ago. Stevens, Jr., has a great voice for narration! Reminds me of Cliff Robertson.

Just watched the You Tube version.
Superb footage, some of it indeed very moving, the elation in Paris to the revulsion and hatred seen in Dachau……

From a 'gamers view point, the colour variation in all the uniforms is stunning, the German prisoners especially. Lots of greys, field green and apparently khaki shades and lots in between.
In the 'Bulge' sequence did I spy the US officers wearing German camo field jackets?

Among there German POWs there's at least one in LW uniform.
