Question is "Will ny FLGS get some in to sell to me?"

magister equitum29 May 2014 1:56 p.m. PST

nice models but honestly I must say they don't look as italian houses or any other country

Bernhard Rauch29 May 2014 2:25 p.m. PST

Functional but without much character. This of course makes them useful for a greater range of time periods and locations.

Armand,

Have to disagree today. I am not normally a Battlefront basher but agree the houses are generic and Hornby makes better stone walls. I do like the shrine though.

Just my opinion. I actually bought their Russian houses.

Yeah, about my thought, too.

I wish BF would put the Desert Fort back into production, I missed it the last time.

I would think the red clay tile roofs and stucco walls at least make them vaguely Mediterranean.

Andy ONeill30 May 2014 4:21 a.m. PST

No, they're not nice.

The italeri offerings are way better.
And I prefer 20mm for my ww2 skirmishing anyhow.

The buildings would look better with a better paint job. These look cartoonish because they're too bright and like they were just built yesterday. Stucco does age, as do tile roofs. Some weathering and ground work would be needed to bring these pieces up to a suitable gaming standard.

Why do they remind me of the Nam houses, which reminded me of the Soviet houses ? huh?

These would be awesome if they looked like a house actually found in Italy rather than a model simply built to hold two stands with tile roof on top.

Try Miniature Building Authority. Example:

They look a lot like the mass produced 'chalets' that litter Spanish resorts. handy if you're refighting the Battle of Benidorm circa 2014 link

"I would think the red clay tile roofs and stucco walls at least make them vaguely Mediterranean."

As above, they don't actually look like Italian houses, although as Etranger says, they do look like modern holiday chalets thrown together out of breeze blocks.

The Hovels mediterranean houses actually look like the real thing, and I am fairly sure I have passed the original prototypes in some places (or things which look startlingly like it).

Don't like them at all

deephorse02 Jun 2014 1:19 p.m. PST

What on Earth makes them 'Italian' walls? They could pass for walls generic to my county, and that's a long way from Italy.

jameshammyhamilton02 Jun 2014 2:03 p.m. PST

IMO after the massive variety in the European houses range I am not shocked.

I will not be picking any of these up.

Generale Lechi05 Jun 2014 6:45 a.m. PST

Actually, the box talks about "italian walls". As an Italian, I can say that in fact these resemble the "muri a secco" (ie overlapping stones without cement), very common in most of the Italian countryside. But I guess not only here.
