Can you give suggestions on how to paint dark wood with acrylics (whatever brand). I wneed to paint Samurai castle walls wood.

Do you have any pics of the kind of thing you mean Ray?

Most wooden weapons I paint If using Vallejo are painted BlackBrown, then highlighted with Flat Brown and finally Mahogany Brown. This is quite a reddish finish. If you want a lighter timber contrast Vallejo Panzer Aces Old Wood is a nice colour with a brown wash over it.

Yes, I've got to paint the woodwork on Japanese castlewals. That wood should be quite dark. If I read you right I might try the Black Brown treatment and leave out the Mahogany (to avoid the reddish). Initially I thought of Sepia ink to work into the woodnerves but have no idea on wich brown.
Thank you, will try the above you mentionnned.

You could go the ink method Ray. I actually use Daler Rowney FW Acrylic Sepia ink on my figure bases. It's a very neutral rich dark brown. Perhaps make some home made strong ink stain with ink and matt medium, that way you providing good adhesion, coverage and a tough seal. Other browns you might want to look at would be Vandyke brown and perhaps Burnt Umber if going down the ink route.
