Great looking gun crews and guns

Are you standing in for Tango?

I shudder thinking about that gunner with his arm down the barrel, knowing what happened to one of the Perry brothers.

Will there be more than one crew set? i.e. one loading and one in the act of firing, as we see in some other ranges.

There is also a 12lber on the Perry site with a different set of crew.

And more importantly, gendarmes d'elite 1815 in both the helmet (restauration) and the imperial bearskin. I hope the Perry's will prioritise these.

Marvellous!

Need limbers to go with them though please!!!

Cheers,

Paul

yes, limbers !!!

waaslandwarrior28 May 2014 10:19 a.m. PST

Shouldn't they use French limbers?
(for 1812 campaign at least?)

No kidding!

Once the powder charge is in Mr. Cannon, he is no longer our friend!

Bavarians had different limbers than the French – I am quite positive that the Perrys along with NR will produce them.

Makes me glad I never did take up obstetrics….

You might think I am joking and I do admit that this figure might be better for Chirurgiens Veterinerie de La Garde…or whatever is the French for Veterinary Surgeons trying to extract a foal…….!

Brings tears to my eyes, but my missus looked at this and reminded me of the day she brought our twin boys into the world nearly 20 years ago!

Ha! Deadhead that's hilarious and slightly disturbing. :)

When I was the platoon sergeant of a US army 81MM Mortar squad , I had the misfortune of having a senior NCO stick his arm down the tube to remove a "hangfire" . Needless to say, I had the entire gun line move back off the line . Fortunately I prevailed as to the stupidity of doing this . We then removed the round properly. Kind reminded me of that Bavarian with his arm in the cannon!

the construction of the howitzer barrel was different to a cannon – often it had a so called powder chamber.
Also usually in contrast to a ready made cartridge consisting of powder charge and ball for a cannon, for the howitzer the powder cartridge had to be placed into the so called chamber seperatly, by the arm.
On top of that then the grenade was placed seperatly.

Bet you kept on good terms with the spongeman. "Think you used enough water there, Butch?"
