Hey Guys.

NHMGS (Northwest Historical Miniatures Gaming Society) just concluded it's annual "Enfilade!" convention today. I'm now in the process of sifting through my photos. In the meantime, here's my post--with a lot of creative licensing--about the Welsh warband I was raising for the convention's SAGA tournament.

Enjoy!

Very good!
Let me add that, according to my cookbook, the Welsh wore little green onions in their headgear as an identification sign. .

Now, the prevailing winds in Britain move from west to east. The early Saxons would soon have realized that anytime the wind smelled of onions, the Welsh were about to attack. This prevented Welsh surprise attacks, and ultimately led to the Saxon conquest of Britain. History books will try to confuse you with social, economic, or cultural rationales, but this is the real story. Of course, that was several centuries before Culhwch's time and the era represented in SAGA, so maybe they'd learned something in the meantime.

Or not. At any rate, I do hope that you opted to attack from downwind in the tournament, when given a choice.

That's why the Welsh aren't big sailors…they like leeks…

Thanks Grelber and Dave for the historical insights and the laughs!

Shouldn't it be a Welsh "WarChoir" or Welsh "WarRugbyTour"?

The garrison of Castell Aberflyarff extends fraternal greetings to Cullwch and his merry band. My old 15mm welsh army had an adventurous career; the medium cavalry and handful of armoured always got turned over badly. Meanwhile the light boyos always delivered a sound kicking to the opposition. I've not played SAGA but suspect that a welsh army will either crash and burn or surprise the opposition badly. A later army would have more ak47s – sorry I mean longbows – but that's a different period and getting closer to Grelbers onions. If you see what I mean. And remember, "Yma o Hyd!".

Benvartok: I didn't think about their musical talents or sports skills. :)

Greetings and salutations back to you boyos of Castell Aberflyarff! My boyos certainly crashed & burned during the tournament, which will be the subject of later posts. I guess I needed more AK-47 Longbows.

Thanks for your comments!
