Not a rant! grin

Last week I upgraded my router from a Docsis 2.0 to a Comcast Gateway Router.
I figured that since I sell the damn thing, I may as well upgrade for free.
It helped a lot, boosting my download speed from 32 to 114 with the Blast internet.
TMP flew.

Then, last night came the Ignore function, with all the agita and tsorris about whole pages and sections being blank.
Today, just reloading the page, or posting a post can take up to a minute to load.
Could this be related?

I take note that all who Ignored me will not be able to see this. grin

The first time I tried to start this thread, I got the infamous "lockfile" error after about 3 minutes.

Just to prove me a liar, this posted in less than a second….

War Panda25 May 2014 5:15 p.m. PST

I've been having a horrid time recently with "lock file" errors… before the Ignore option…so its hard to tell

Robert Kennedy25 May 2014 6:04 p.m. PST

Not all for me. Just working fine. grin

Ed Mohrmann Supporting Member of TMP25 May 2014 6:06 p.m. PST

Same here – working fine

Intrepide25 May 2014 6:13 p.m. PST

I am not having that problem, JtOFM.

Only Warlock25 May 2014 6:13 p.m. PST

I had a bunch of Lock Errors earlier (For a few hours) but they appear gone now.

Good going here as well.

Trouble yesterday and earlier today (25.5.14) getting TMP to "work". Works now. I'm "using" Windows 8.0…

Docsis 2?!?!? Wow that's old! A kid born when that router was released would be old enough to learn to drive in my state at the end of this year.

Not to threadjack, but my last job, before the current one (a certain fruit-logoed computer firm), was for Charter Internet…

slow loading and maneuvering around TMP for me too.

but doing the ignore did help populate the pages/sections effectively.

I've thought of a way to speed up Ignore… grin

53Punisher25 May 2014 9:38 p.m. PST

When I used the Ignore it slowed to a crawl for me too. It went back to normal once I cancled the Ignore, logged out and then logged back in. I tried this twice with the same result, so it's using the Ignore feature for me that's causing the slow down.

Arteis25 May 2014 11:58 p.m. PST

No problem at all, even speed-wise, using safari on an ipad. The answer to the disappearing messages certainly seems to be, for now anyway until the bug is fixed, to ensure you have someone ignored, though maybe that doesn't solve the speed problem for those who experience it..

Luckily there is that volunteer PVP that you can ignore, with no great loss. Little did he know he was going to provide such a useful service!!

"Has the Ignore function slowed down TMP?"

Not as far as I can see. Everything working fine here.

Mine is at normal speed too!

Martin Rapier26 May 2014 2:30 a.m. PST

Flying along happily today, although as above, there seemed to be a plethora of lockfile errors earlier this week.

Snowcat26 May 2014 2:36 a.m. PST

Just took an eternity to load the front page. No probs with other sites.

Doug em4miniatures26 May 2014 3:57 a.m. PST

No problems for me – I think TMP now favours the righteous….

Snowcat26 May 2014 5:45 a.m. PST

Just activated the one previously unactivated interest in my membership page, and everything is fixed. Speed back to normal, and all previous newsy items showing on the front page.

zoneofcontrol26 May 2014 9:02 a.m. PST

I was getting the lockfile message two days ago. That stopped and yesterday I kept getting bounced out to a Yahoo page. Both days things were running much more slowly than usual. Today seems to have cleared from error messages but still not running at full speed.

Angel Barracks26 May 2014 10:21 a.m. PST

Slower and broken, where are the topics ?
Can't have a message board without seeing the message boards…

kallman26 May 2014 10:51 a.m. PST

Yea I was not having problems yesterday but today it is sloooooooooooooooooow! And I have tested it in different browsers so yes there is a problem. I do not stifle or ignore so the problem is not on my end and other links and websites load just fine and I have pretty good speed in my area.

Tango0126 May 2014 11:49 a.m. PST

Since yesterday at night, impossible to post…
There is a heavy problem without doubt.

Slow and those on the ignore list are coming through on the front page today.

WillieB26 May 2014 12:49 p.m. PST

Extremely slow on both Firefox and Chrome.
Tried on 3 different computers with different IP addresses.

WillieB26 May 2014 12:59 p.m. PST

I did as Snowcat suggested and activated 'Toy gaming' (the only one that wasn't activated) in my profile.
Speed has improved somewhat but still noticeably slower than normal.

Knight of St John26 May 2014 1:12 p.m. PST

Same here as WillieB above.

John the OFM26 May 2014 2:33 p.m. PST

Well….
"Ignore" is now temporarily turned off.
And my TMP is now super fast.

D A THB26 May 2014 4:57 p.m. PST

I have found no difference either way and considering where I am geographically it would seem strange to blame the ignore function.

vtsaogames27 May 2014 5:32 a.m. PST

My TMP was a dog over the long weekend, timing out now and then. Now that ignore is gone, it's back to being fast. A coding error, eh?

Instead of "I'm Spartacus", "I'm a beta tester".

Not all bad news then ..

John the OFM27 May 2014 6:57 a.m. PST

No, *I* am a beta tester!

Winston Smith27 May 2014 1:26 p.m. PST

And. "Some" are whining that it does not go far enough.
