Well my daughter has recently moved to El Paso,Texas as she has been transfered to Fort Bliss from Fort Hood. As we will be doing our yearly jaunt to visit her, I was wondering if there are any decent Hobby Shops that I can visit while in the area, or any Cons going on as we'll be there in Late July through early August.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Gene Roddenberry's birthplace. Transmountain State park. Hueco Tanks state park. The place I grew up. Lots and lots of beach, but no ocean.

I think there are a couple of gunfighter era cemeteries there, but couldn't give you any more details that that. Last time I was at Ft. Bliss was around 1987.

That last time I was in the area, all the best places to eat were in Las Cruces. (That would be just inside New Mexico.)

Surely there must be a Marty Robbins memorial somewhere in town:

White Sands isn't too far away.

There are a few shops here in El Paso. The best one is Sun City Games on Yandell St. GW, Heroclix, FoW, Magic, board games, lots of stuff. Sunrise Games & Comics on Dyer St has some GW, Heroclix, and Magic. A few comic book stores (Rebels Comics, Allstar Comics, Comics Cards & Collectibles). No cons in near future. Weekly tournaments for Magic and Heroclix at several locations. Historical gaming is hit and miss. Usually inquire at stores and someone usually responds.
Good museums here and the best Mexican food in the world. Don't go to Las Cruces for food. Go to Las Cruces for Old Mesilla. Carlsbad Caverns 2 hours away. Guadalupe Mountains on the way to the caverns. White Sands national monument about an hour away. Trinity test site an hour and a half away. Mexico next door but don't really recommend going there
If you go to game stores tell them Jamie sent you.

Forgot to mention Hal's Hobby shop on Bessemer Dr. Lots of model kits, train supplies, and RC gear
