Here they are with an X-Wing for scale!

Barks123 May 2014 5:24 p.m. PST

Pew pew! I have to say, I like the Tantive IV. The transport seems small. I'd love to see an Imperial large ship in the future, that wedge shape is just so iconic.

I think for the game it will be fine. I have the larger transport model from the old Model set I might use with the cards from this one.

I don't play X-Wing, but I almost bought me that Tantive IV just to put on the shelf and admire.

The Tantive looks great. I wish the transport was closer to it in size.

I really thought that the transports were bigger…

Certainly not Star Destroyer size, but bigger than that!

kallman23 May 2014 7:00 p.m. PST

I think they look fine and cannot wait to get a few. X-Wing is one of favorite "I do not have to paint, build, assemble anything and just play" games.

The transport is 90m, the corvette is 150m.
It looks like it's just over half as long as the corvette, so it looks right to me.

KeithRK23 May 2014 8:56 p.m. PST

The corvette is 13 inches long and comes out to about 1/453 scale.

The transport is 8.75 inches so comes out to about 1/400 scale.

The fighters are all 1/270 scale.

If they were all the same scale as the fighters, the corvette would be a little under 22 inches, the transport 13 inches, and for fun an Imperial Class Star Destroyer (1600 m) would come in at a whopping 19 feet 5 inches long.

What are the actual dimensions of the Corvette's base? How far apart are the 2 pegs? I would like to know as I am going to make a custom stand for another Huge ship. If you twist my arm I might even tell you what it is…

I give creds to the Tantive IV for giving me two thrills. Walked into my store, and saw it on the shelf.

Walked into Barnes and Noble, and didn't see it on the shelf. ;->=

This too shall pass, but it made for a nice day.

I'm also fine with the transport size. I'll have to check out my Assault on Hoth set. Sounds similar.

DB, consider your arm twisted…

Yeah, not in the B&N stores yet. However, I'll bet there will be multiple copies in every store by June (possibly July).

I'm still trying to decide if I should buy more Tie aces since they have so many in stock and I've got a 20% off coupon and nothing else to buy at B&N.

KeithRK24 May 2014 8:37 a.m. PST

DB Draft,

The mounting pegs on the model are 5.75 inches apart, from center to center of the pegs.

Each leg on the model's base stands on it's own separate base which is 3 3/16 x 3 1/8 inches. The legs are 3 15/16 inches high.

Saw both at Roll the Dice Games in Murfreesboro, TN yesterday (great store, by the way, and well stocked on X-Wing stuff). Impressive ship. Alas, out of my price range at the moment.

DB Draft24 May 2014 2:57 p.m. PST

KeithRK: Thanks for the measurements, I may need to consider an alternate set of mounting pegs, possibly brass rods. I was hoping it would be "close enough" to just use the same base dimensions.

TheBeast: I have a wooden model of a DP20 gunship (12" long) that I plan to experiment with.

…and you will tell us more as you work it out. ;->=

I prefer show and tell:

It is alongside the Kenner Blockade Runner (15").

Well, I was thinking of the stats you come up with… ;->=

DB Draft27 May 2014 2:40 a.m. PST

Well I'd be open to suggestions as I do not have the Tantive IV yet but have some WIP ideas based on spoilers. Basically it would have the fore and aft section like the corvette. I would like it to have a primary turret on both sections. Most of it's weapons are on the aft section around the engines but this is where the energy would be produced so where do I put the Energy stat?
It should have 5 energy like the corvette and 2 hardpoints per section. As 50% of the crew are gunners this seems appropriate, it will have minimal cargo capacity and other crew upgrades. It could have a unique hardpoint "missile launcher" for an unlimited availability of concussion missiles (until crippled) which I would place in the fore section firing ahead.

The main difference is that the DP20 is a warship with plenty of anti-fighter weaponry. The corvette is more adaptable and a support ship while the gunship is there to fight and defend itself.
