I am considering AoF for large battles, having only a modest number of 6mm Irregular Miniatures stands. I do not like lots of markers on the table-top and would find this off-putting. Am I correct that each brigade has a label which follows it around? |

Does anyone know whether one can get a hard copy of these rules in the UK? Mollinary |

All the scenarios do come with pre-made labels to help identify the various units and their parent division. The labels also have a Strength Modifier for easy reference. Certainly there are other ways to label bases for those inclined against paper ones. I've seen people with their bases permanently "numbered" on the back or colored dot patterns on the back of bases to cross-reference with the OOB who is who. Personally, I prefer the ease of paper labels, but to each his own. There are currently no UK suppliers for a hard copy of the rules. Right now it's just Iron Ivan or Brigade Games--both US based. |

Am I correct that each brigade has a label which follows it around? Folded tabs on the back of the stands, but not markers in the sense of chits and counters on the table. |

Like Napoleon's Battles, Fire & Fury, and Age of Eagles then? |

Thanks for the replies. Of course, in F&F and AoE, there is one marker for a brigade of many stands. In AoF, is it not that there has to be one label for each stand? Are there any pics of a game in progress (preferably 6mm) to show how it looks with the labels? I do prefer to have the scenery not cluttered up with chits, markers, etc. |

This is what google tells me AoF units look like:

Honestly, you could play without any markers on the table and (nearly) no labels at all. As you can see from the photos, all the labels really do is ID stand commander name, the division the stand belongs to and the stands's modifier. All of those could be listed on a separate sheet, and then you could just use a small identifier on the base (as inconspicuous as you like). There are fatigue markers, but you could put those on the separate sheet as well (you'll always be checking for the modifier anyway) or just make fatigue markers that blend in with the scenery (corpses for instance.) If you want to do big battles without a ton of miniatures and very few markers cluttering up the table, I think it would be harder to find something that fits the bill more than AoF. |

Sure, here's a picture of Glendale in 6mm. All the bases have paper labels and the red markers are for Fatigue. That's the only "marker" needed for gameplay. You could track those on your OOB instead of using markers I guess.
