Would it be possible to use the Bolt Action rules for the Anglo Boer War. Also I have based my miniatures on 40mm square bases, 2 figs per base.

Absolutely perfect for representing the Boers ability to fire from great distances. I cannot think of a better set.

Yes, works fine. Our club has looked at SF, modern, Vietnam, cowboy, NW Frontier and Pony Wars variants so far. The rules are eminently portable as far as periods are concerned.

Yep – they are so bland and generic put any figure you like on the stand….

Sorry, didn't mean to be so snarky. I've played them several times and to me they felt so "fast play and streamlined" as to be fairly insubstantial.

Hi David I'm interested that your club have tried Pony Wars in Bolt Action because I have had similar ideas of using a variation of bolt action or Saga. How did it go?

Thank you all. Will get the rules when I have got a few more miniatures painted.

We like BA a lot. We've played CrossFire since they came out & find BA a pleasant change. None of us EVER looked at Warhammer or 40K or anything remotely like that, we are all in our 50's(too old & don't care for fantasy/Si-Fi) so we have no biased opinions. One more thing, we have 3 new players(one, an attractive 25 year old woman, it's true…) who really enjoy playing BA & none of them had EVER played a wargame of any kind! There are some very good points to the game, you don't have to use the point system if ya don't wanna for one. I could go on but…

Hi,

I'm a little late in adding to this topic.

But if anyone is still looking at it and have played with variant rules for BA, I for one would appreciate it if you could publish any house rules used for the different periods played.

John
