I am currently reliving my childhood by collecting painted 54mm ACW figures. I now have enough to play a game; 6 infantry regiments of 16 figures per side, four artillery pieces and crews per side and 12 cavalry with 12 dismounts per side. I am open to basing the figures, probably on metal washers so I retain the option of playing with them individually. I was thinking about using some old school Featherstone rules, but I'd like to hear what rules are being used that are newer than 40+ years! I have played Brother Against Brother in the past but they were not my cup of tea – too many random events got in the way. Thanks in advance for your suggestions. |

Nick, I always based 54mm guys on poker chips. Makes them more stable I think. Nick |

Good question. I've been toying (no pun intended) with the idea of a Sword and the Flame variant. I am also thinking about multi figure stands for the revised On to Richmond rules that are coming out. I've played ATKM rules for AWI/1812 and enjoyed them, so the ACW variant is probably worth looking at. Frank Chadwick used 54s to play Volley and Bayonet. Any set would work as long as you modify the ground scale. |

If they are on 40mm bases then wait for July when "Devil to Pay" comes out – great set of ACW rules. Works great with all scales as the basing can accommodate 10-54mm. At the last Nashcon I saw 54mm figures on 40mm square bases and it looked right. Figs per base 54mm 1 28mm 4 15mm 8 10mm ? (I don't have any of these but I assume they come in strips of figures?) |

ACWBill has an adaptation of Battle Cry – he runs it at the local shows and it's always very popular! I quite enjoy it myself

All the King's Men Great rules by a great company. And the best part is they are free. |

79th PA, Thank you for reminding me, I own a copy of "The Sword and Secession" a TSATF variant from Sergeants 3. The cover says it's for small ACW actions. Which could be good. Since I switched from 25s to 54s, I've noticed that I don't need more than 100 figures per side, max, in order to have a fun game. At least in my case, I felt like I needed to fill up the table with 25mm figures. |

I did an ACW variant of TSATF that appeared in The Courier ages ago. I may still have a copy around someplace. |
