I've had the good pleasure to take on a commission in creating Highland Dwarves for a customer.
Like most of my Wooden Wars models, there is lots of room for variation and customization. I'm particularly fond of the piper. The cool part is, not only does my patron get a couple of armies' worth of Wooden Dwarves, but I'll soon be putting these up for sale on my Webstore for everyone to enjoy.
I will have some for sale at Kublacon this weekend, as well as running Several games- hope to see you there! For a few more Pics and a bit more on the rules variations, rove on over to my blog! Cheers, www,skullncrown.com skullandcrown.blogspot.com |

Thanks Gents! War Wizard- I intentionally designed the tartan lines so I could use felt pens to block them in. Genius or lazy, you decide! |

Fantastic. Honestly, I didn't know until I scrolled down to the third pic that they weren't 3d miniatures. |

Actually, they're 2.5d miniatures. Tom's brilliant (& I believe patent pending) design allows the layering of the wood to provide a sense of 3d, but still be laser cut-able. & the laser etching is a great "color by numbers" guide if you need it. My daughter loves coloring the horses with felt pens, while I've been able to do some simple shading to provide more detail. link |

Lovely paintjob
. But 2 D miniatures ? Really ? Why ? |
Skull and Crown | 23 May 2014 9:37 a.m. PST |
Zardoz,Thanks for asking. They are not really "2d" but are more like flats. I designed them to be built up in layers with gives them dimension and over all strength. Remember, these are made to be handled and played with and knocked about by rubber balls! My wooden soldiers are simple, dynamic, laser cut and etched models which assemble with any wood glue. Once built you can use them as-is, or paint them up to your heart's desire. They are also very easy to customize, as many pieces are mix-and-match. The models are styled to appeal to both a younger crowd (and make great parent-child projects) as well as to the toy soldier collectors and artists, with an eye towards detail and easy customization. Wooden Wars wooden soldiers are very sturdy, and are designed to take a beating! Regards, Thomas Foss skullncrown.com |
