Doug, the problem with here is that constructive posts run the risk of not being compiled. We are really trying to have only two locations to monitor. :) I will try to stop by here to pick them up, though.

No problem.

I'll keep my comments here.

I will keep my coments here as well
Love the larger Battlestation would have rather seen Lyrans, Tholians or Hydrans than a sledom used Orion Dreadnaught.

jimklein196622 May 2014 9:06 p.m. PST

Im gonna get that orion DN just to have it! too cool not to

Darkrazor23 May 2014 5:50 a.m. PST

Its cool but I'd like to see the Races Expanded than the ones that are already released.

billclo23 May 2014 12:50 p.m. PST

I think it was a higher priority to re-write the rules, making corrections to things that didn't work well. The game is in a prolonged and gradually worsening slump, and hopefully the re-written rules will get some people interested in what many people were perceiving as a dying game.

The new Empires )Lyran, Hydran, Tholian) need new rules, which will be released at some later date, I imagine. I am in no hurry for those Empires, though I admit to wanting rules for fighters (which I tinkered with a little before losing interest in the game).

WEEKLY STARLINE 2500 STATUS REPORT
Steve Cole reports:

We don't have Master Mold 2501 back yet. We assume it will include the Tholian PC, DD, and CA along with the Orion CA, BC, BCH, BR, and DW, but that won't be confirmed until we have the mold back. Getting molds is NOT a "drop it off one take pick it up a standard number of days later" process but is a "drop it off when you can and get it back when they're done" basis. So we should have it before next Tuesday but nobody can predict that. When Bruce gets the mold he will run masters and send them to me. Film at 11.

I have today told Sandrine to send the Klingon B10, Klingon SD7, Romulan Vulture, and Orion DN to prototype. The BATS will get a very minor fix and then will probably go with that batch. We should have those in Amarillo within two weeks and Bruce should be sending Master Mold 2502 to the mold company in three or four weeks. The TK5 will go into that mold, hopefully also the revised Kzinti NCA that Tony is working on. All of those parts will be more than enough to fill Master Mold 2502 even if some prototypes don't work. Whether there are enough to fill Master Mold 2503 is not clear at this time but it should be close.

I have sent an email to Will about the jumbo freighter but it won't be done in time for 2502. Maybe it will become the final piece of the 2503 puzzle. I have also asked Bruce to make a final decision on the problematic Tholian DN prototype so we can either fix it or replace it.

As you know from that big blog post, every step of the process includes the possibility that the item did not work and needs to be done over or fixed or something, so it's not an exact science.

Right now I am hopeful to see the Master Mold 2501 batch of eight ships released about July 1st and another batch of ships sometime in August.

jimklein196627 May 2014 9:14 p.m. PST

Nice :) cant wait til july

Darkrazor28 May 2014 6:45 a.m. PST

Tholians would be a nice addition.

Very much looking forward to the Lyrans.

mdauben28 May 2014 3:13 p.m. PST

Love the larger Battlestation would have rather seen Lyrans, Tholians or Hydrans than a sledom used Orion Dreadnaught.

I'm quite looking forward to the Hydrans, myself, but the problem is we don't have rules yet for Lyrans or Hydrans and their special weapons, so those have to wait until an eventual supplement comes out. There are more Tholians in the pipeline, though, so you're in luck there.

Darkrazor29 May 2014 9:13 a.m. PST

I'm quite looking forward to the Hydrans, myself, but the problem is we don't have rules yet for Lyrans or Hydrans and their special weapons, so those have to wait until an eventual supplement comes out.

I geuss it depends on what system you are using them for Im using them for Starmada. All the rules are in place.

ADB Marketing29 May 2014 3:38 p.m. PST

We're always excited to hear that the Starline 2500s are used in other game systems such as Starmada, Federation Commander, and Star Fleet Battles. (So far no one has tried to play Federation & Empire with miniatures, but when they do, I want pictures for our page on Facebook!)

While it is true that the miniatures development tends to follow ACTASF development, there are always those ships that the fans cry out for and we try to listen to them, too. I will keep you posted on the progress of this line and of any new ships in the Starline 2400s as well.

I appreciate your input and suggestions.

Jean

jimklein196629 May 2014 5:45 p.m. PST

Since youre taking input…..when do the feds get their tug in the 2500 series? :)

ADB Marketing29 May 2014 9:54 p.m. PST

Jim, one mold at a time. :)

billclo30 May 2014 3:08 a.m. PST

Jim, if you can't wait, several people have scratch built some. There used to be pictures of how it was done on the SFU Miniatures Facebook group. Looked moderately difficult but not impossible. Same with the Fed DD – even I, with only modest kitbashing skills, has a squadron of Fed DDs made up (but not painted).

You CAN have the unreleased ships if you are willing to give it a go and make your own. :)

mdauben30 May 2014 8:41 a.m. PST

I geuss it depends on what system you are using them for Im using them for Starmada. All the rules are in place.

That is true. I'm actually playing around with Federation Commander (SFB-lite) using my Starline 2500 ships, while we wait for the revised ACTASF rules. I switched from the clear plastic bases that come with the minis to CorSec omni-stands. This way I can switch my ships from round bases (for ACTASF) to hex bases (for SFB and FC).

Anyway, since they can't make everything at once (as much as we players might want them to!), some items have to wait, in this case the Lyrans, Hydrans and ISC. The last I heard was the next new race to be released would be the Lyrans. Hopefully we will see them before the end of the year! <fingers crossed>

Darkrazor30 May 2014 9:58 a.m. PST

I love the Design of the Lyran ships and would like to see how they improve on them in this line,the 2400 line was very lacking on detail.Im a lot more impressed with the 2500 series, but I will have to get my shink ray out to get them down to 1/3900 scale. Which I have already started on.

Captain Gideon30 May 2014 12:26 p.m. PST

I liked the Lyran ships in the 2400 line and I thought they had decent detail.

ADB Marketing31 May 2014 11:00 a.m. PST

And that is why both Starline 2400 and Starline 2500 are being supported. :)

mdauben02 Jun 2014 11:04 a.m. PST

I love the Design of the Lyran ships and would like to see how they improve on them in this line,the 2400 line was very lacking on detail.

There are some 3D renderings of Lyran minis posted on the ADB website.

These are very early tests, though, so details are probably going to change in the final minis.

By Steve Cole:

STARLINE MASTER STATUS REPORT: 8 July 2014
This lists only those ships which are in the production pipeline. Any ship not listed here is a possible idea for future production.
================================
MASTER MOLD STATUS
MM-2501: Got this back, 6 of the 8 ships worked.
MM-2502: This will have the two failed ships from 2501 and the two 2450s, some stuff Bruce needs to do for someone else, and whatever else will fit. That might include the Tholian TK5 and Kzinti NCA, but probably not the Romulan Condor.
MM-2503: This will have whatever ships are available and will fit. Most of those ships will come from the prototype batch that is long overdue from England (Klingon B10 and SD7, Orion DN, Augmented BATS, Romulan Vulture). In theory it might include revised prototypes that failed in MM-2502.
MM-2504: Late this year or early next year, including the Kzinti and Gorn Battleships, whatever hasn't found a spot in MM-2502 or 2503, anything we have to do over from MM-2502 and MM2503.
================================
PRODUCTION MOLDS ORDERED: I am increasingly frustrated with the mold-making company, although the owner is in ill health and not working full time. Even so, the masters were sent on 10 June and here we are on 8 July with no molds but a suggestion that they might be ready tomorrow or sometime this week (two previous promises were not kept). A good guess is to allow 14 days from mold delivery to the first three ships on the shopping cart and two-to-four weeks for the other three.
2500 THOLIAN Destroyer: July release
2500 ORION Battle Raider: July release
2500 ORION war destroyer: July release
2500 ORION Heavy Cruiser: August release
2500 ORION Battlecruiser: August release
2500 ORION heavy battlecruiser: August release
================================
MASTER MODELLER REVISIONS
2500 THOLIAN CA: 7 July Tony reports that the ship is in progress and will be completed any day now, then sent to Bruce, who knows it has priority to go into Master Mold Two.
2500 THOLIAN PC: 7 July Tony reports that the ship is in complete. When the CA is done it will be sent to Bruce, who knows it has priority to go into Master Mold Two.
2500 KZINTI NCA: 7 July Tony reports that the ship is done but waiting for the Tholian CA before shipment. This ship is not on the "must go into master mold two" list but will be done at the first opportunity (mold two or three).
================================
PROTOTYPES ON STANDBY
2500 THOLIAN DN: We have a prototype but the connector system has failed every previous time it was used. Bruce wants to try it in a master mold but ADB has told him not to use it unless it is needed to fill a master mold.
2500 THOLIAN TK5: This prototype is on hand and will go into master mold two or three, whichever has room.
2450 KLINGON D7K: This prototype is on hand; it is a 2500 ship rescaled to 1/3788. Current plans are to put it into Master Mold Two with the Fed CAR and release the pair in September, but delays for the CAR at the prototype house may smash that plan.
================================
PROTOTYPES OF NEW SHIPS ORDERED
All of these prototypes were ordered on 11 June and should have been here long before now, but we're told that the prototype machine broke and is being fixed. Extent of the delay is not known.
2450 FEDERATION CAR: This prototype is was lost by the casting house; it is a 2500 ship rescaled to 1/3788. We want it for September release but we'll see. A new prototype was ordered, but if it is delayed much more we may have to reschedule the whole schedule.
2500 ORION dreadnought: Waiting (too long) for prototype.
2500 KLINGON B10 Battleship: Waiting (too long) for prototype.
2500 GENERIC Battlestation with augments: Waiting (too long) for prototype.
2500 KLINGON SD7 Strike Cruiser: Waiting (too long) for prototype.
2500 ROMULAN Vulture: Waiting (too long) for prototype.
================================
EXISTING 2500 RESIN SHIPS DISCONTINUED; SCHEDULED FOR LATER CONVERSION TO METAL
2500 ROMULAN Condor dreadnought: Bruce reported that he had a pristine resin unit he would use as a prototype in master mold three or four.
================================
NEW CGIs IN PROCESS
2500 GORN Battleship: Cleared for prototype on 24 June but not sent yet by Mongoose.
2500 KZINTBattleship: Cleared for prototype on 24 June but not sent yet by Mongoose.
2425 JUMBO FREIGHTER (three pod) and HEAVY FREIGHTER (four pod). Will sent new CGIs on 7 July. These are being reviewed.
2500 NEO-THOLIAN NCA: Sandrine sent a design on 4 June. I didn't think I liked it until I finally did like it. Posted on 17 June 2014. Discussion of the scale continues.
2500 ORION slaver: CGI posted on 18 June, under review.
================================
FUTURE SHIPS
2500 LYRANs: We will talk about these later.
2500 and 2400 ROMULAN SaberHawk heavy war destroyer
2500 and 2400 Klingon HF5 heavy war destroyer

tyrela13 Nov 2014 6:13 a.m. PST

Any update on this schedule? Looking for the vulture

ADB Marketing18 Nov 2014 9:10 a.m. PST

tyrela, unfortunately, no. The schedule has slipped pretty drastically. It took Mongoose a couple of months to find a new prototype manufacturer who could provide the needed detail. Then the person who does the master molds had some issues, delaying things more. Finally our casting house person had an illness and death in the family. Our rule there has always been family first, so we are not pushing him.

I really wish we had better news, but I think we will in a bit when things shake down.

The Triffid18 Nov 2014 11:18 a.m. PST

Why settle for tiny undersized stations AMT/REVELL do K7 and DS9 in this scale!

Eli Arndt18 Nov 2014 2:09 p.m. PST

Color me confused on what all the series numbers mean. I am new to these ranges and get the 2400 and 2500. The rest seem to be sub-codes of either of those?

-Eli

Mako1118 Nov 2014 3:13 p.m. PST

Yea, I'm confused as well.

What scale are the original Star Trek ships in, as well as the Zocchi ships?

I believe they were the same scale.

trynda170118 Nov 2014 5:06 p.m. PST

It was 1/3788 or thereabouts (FASA Trek ships are 1/3900, so close). This fits the original SL2200 and the Zocchi range, the SL2300 range, and the current SL2400 ranges. The new SL2500 is I think 1/3125?

Lion in the Stars18 Nov 2014 5:09 p.m. PST

@Eli: A 2425 series model is one that is usually scaled to match the 2500s (except for the bases), but is intended for use with either scale.

trynda170118 Nov 2014 5:27 p.m. PST

Ooops, forgot that one! Thanks, Lion in the Stars! :)

mdauben18 Nov 2014 6:03 p.m. PST

A 2425 series model is one that is usually scaled to match the 2500s (except for the bases), but is intended for use with either scale.

Actually, most of the current 2425 miniatures are renumbered generic miniatures (bases, freighters, etc.) originally from the 2400 line. They are meant to be used with both the 2400 and 2500 ships, as ADB decided it wasn't worth making duplicates in the slightly larger 2500 size.

Mako1124 Nov 2014 5:43 p.m. PST

Thanks for the clarification.

So, the numbers don't represent the scale, but perhaps the century, or just a miniatures range product number?

Man, this is confusing.

ADB Marketing25 Nov 2014 11:42 a.m. PST

Sorry for the "sales pitch tone," but this is probably the easiest way to explain it.

2400 Miniatures

We have, for many years, produced a series of metal scale minis that have evolved from the 2200s to the 2300s to the 2400s. Starline 2400 is 1/3788 scale. These remain in production.

2500 Miniatures

Under our joint venture with Mongoose, we have launched the new 2500 series which are larger and have more detail. In November 2013, a contract modification put this the manufacture and distribution of this product line entirely in ADB's hands. Starline 2500 is 1/3125.

2425 Miniatures

Certain units cannot be realistically done in either of the standard scales, so the 2425 range of miniatures includes general units (bases, freighters, monster, shuttles) which work very nicely with both the 2400s (1/3788) and the 2500s (1/3125). For example, starbase would be 28 inches across for the 2500s and 24 inches across for the 2400s so the three-include model we provide here works nicely for both scales. After all, if the ships were the same scale as the movement/weapons ranges, each ship would be smaller than the head of a pin.
