Checked out the kickstarter for this game for the first time today. Made a very bad impression:

-- 80% of the pledges are already sold out. I actually had trouble finding an available pledge for what I wanted. Congrats for having such a good first day but as a newcomer I was rubbed the wrong way and felt like "I missed it already."

-- I have no idea what I need to actually play this game. Nowhere on the first page does it say that some other version of the rules is or is not required. Is this kickstarter only geared towards people who already know the system? Because I'm not one of them, and I'm confused.

-- Stretch goals are not listed on the homepage. You have to go into updates to see them. This is a big mistake in my opinion as part of what gets me excited about kickstarters is seeing the stretch goals upfront.

In any case, I did not pledge because of all of these issues. As far as I'm concerned, Battlefront has missed an opportunity to get me to spend some money here. If things clear up in the next few weeks, I may change my mind, but it's hard to erase a bad first impression…

I don't play, but it seemed pretty straight forward to me. The stretch goals are on the second page because they were accomplished so fast and the homepage has not been updated. That is fairly routine from other Kickstarters I've participated in.YMMV.

I had no idea the stretch goals were there….. need to go back and look. I was not impressed as well.

It is certainly geared to people that already play. No rules are included (which are in fact changing and due for re-release soon).

Ahh… big whoop. So the unlocked stretch goals is the opportunity to buy additional stuff. Nothing freely added?

That is as bad as a "news" item I read on news.com that said "Get X item for $299 USD", which would have been a great price BUT, that price was for the first 100 or so kickstarter backers and was no longer available. The price after that was a more realistic $499. USD Personally I'm starting to think that kind of thing could end up being considered a pyramid scheme. (I know it is not but if they are not careful and this starts happening more often it could end up with insider trading type rules)

They show nicely painted miniatures in all the photos, but you only get one color primed figures. They need to show what you actually get. The painted sets are all gone. So they need to replace the painted figures with a more truthful version.

I bought Dust Warfare core rulebook a few years ago, is it still to be used or should I buy the new one ?

'Dust Warfare' is completely different and separate from 'Dust Tactics' and 'Dust Tactics Battlefield,' so you can still use it. Here's what Battlefront stated in its decision to create a third game called 'Dust Tactics Battlefield':

"While Dust Warfare is an existing game for Dust miniatures played on a modelled battlefield, it has a significant downside, it uses a whole different set of unit cards and statistics, and a totally different set of rules to Dust Tactics.

Dust Tactics Battlefield avoids these problems by using the same unit cards and core rules as Dust Tactics. You can play Dust Tactics on a gridded map one day and Dust Tactics Battlefield on modelled terrain the next."

My take from all this is that Battlefront is attempting to replace 'Dust Warfare' with 'Dust Tactics Battlefield' as the tabletop miniature game of choice by melding it with 'Dust Tactics.' This will make it easier for newcomers to learn both games since their mechanics are much closer than between 'Dust Tactics' and 'Dust Warfare.'

Here are the rules, legally, for free for DUST v2.

Thank you 28 mm Fanatik.
"Dust Tactics Battlefield avoids these problems by using the same unit cards and core rules as Dust Tactics. You can play Dust Tactics on a gridded map one day and Dust Tactics Battlefield on modelled terrain the next."
This sounds quite stupid to me and ( as you said )"is attemting to replace"
The argument seems unfounded, "avoid these problems", what problems ?
