They are cool models but I don't really get the idea of having an "army" of them. I guess I could see it as a last stand kind of thing against a horde of enemies in a one-off scenario or as part of a campaign but as a regular force it strikes me as a bit odd.

I mean if I'm a tyranid player and my opponent fields three of them and nothing else what are my hormagaunts going to do?

Sit back and watch I suppose.

Your gaunts are gonna run all over the board snapping up all those objectives. That's what the last Nid player I saw did when he fought a Knight formation.
It seemed like if the Knights couldn't score enough points from kills the swarms could score plenty from other objectives.

I mean if I'm a tyranid player and my opponent fields three of them (Imperial Knights) and nothing else what are my hormagaunts going to do?

The new 6.5 edition of 40K will allow you to field a regular army or what they call an "unbound" army which lets you field anything because it's not bound by the Force Organization Chart. So that means I will be able to field my army of three Imperial Knights at under 3,000 points without having to play 40K Apocalypse.

Of course, it's pointless that a regular army should face an unbound army composed of superheavies. So when you play an unbound army your opponent should do the same. Otherwise you have serious balance issues.

Why is GW allowing 'unbound' armies? To help them sell more Imperial Knights and other big stuff of course.

Sit back and watch I suppose.

Or get stomped like the bugs that they are?

Otherwise you have serious balance issues.

I don't think GW has been worried about "balance" for a long time now…

Thing is Space Marines don't use Imperial Knights in their Chapter.

Why is GW allowing 'unbound' armies? To help them sell more Imperial Knights and other big stuff of course.

Thing is if you think that running with an unbounded army of nothing but Super Heavies – don't be surprise when you lose most of your games.

You really need to read what some of the new point scoring Objectives are, they require you to do things that those super heavies will not be able to do.

Plus even as a super heavy they can be destroyed and in many cases quite quickly.

So be a GW Fanboy and buy their overprice large models.

I on the other hand will field a more balance Unbound army that can actually win games.

I mean if I'm a tyranid player and my opponent fields three of them and nothing else what are my hormagaunts going to do?

What they will do is move from objective to objective and score points for you.

While those Overprice models try and shoot them.
