Hi, I have just had my first board game published and have done a designers AAR on my blog, which describes the system by way of an AAR. If you have 5 minutes to spare for a coffee and a read, here is the link. Link link |

Well done. I am very interested to see what you have done. I saw an approach to an AWI campaign/battle where single 28mm (Perry?) figures were effectively used instead of card counters and I am thinking that (for me) a similar method be chosen. Regardless, yours is inspirational. |

Looks very good, I'll keep an eye out for this. I prefer your playtest result to the real thing |

Too late for feedback to be of any use I suppose, as you've already published, but archers don't fire, they shoot. It may seem a minor thing but some people, including myself, are put off by historically inaccurate terminology. In fact I didn't buy a novel a couple of weeks ago because it included the same mistake. |

Hi, no the point is taken. You will note my AAR says shoot but the counters say fired. This was a deliberate choice – the game will sell internationally and so for many, English is a second language. In boardgaming there is a virtual understanding of what 'fired' means. I suppose 'spent' would have had similar universal knowledge with this particular edition as the archers would be flipped to their 'spent' side after shooting. Further, a five letter word made a better fit on the counter (when I was doing my DTP version) than any appropriate universally understood word that I could think of. |

By the way, please don't think the feedback is not used. It has led to a conversation with the game publisher. He has done some archery, so is familiar with the subject. There is a sister game to Hastings (Stamford Bridge) that may be published late this year / early next year – depending on sales of the Hastings game) and he may change the terminology. |
