At last I have found some inspiration for a campaign I have wanted to run down the club. Space Pirates! The ground element will involve 15mm skirmish. BUT what to do about the star ship combat? I don't know if I should go with 1/2256 scale ships or to do it in approximately 1/300-1/280 /X-wing scale. I have a lot of 1/2256 scale ships but my pirate ships and traders will be pretty small ships. Think GZG's Glow worm, Berstroms tramp freighter and some repainted micro machines Blockade runners. In 1/300ish scale I have a large number of micro machines X-wings, Tie fighters and a couple of 16 inch long Blockade runners. I would need to find or build some pirate ships (which might be fun). I have home grown rules for both scales. SO my question is: What scale should I do my space Pirate ship games in. |

You could use the Silent Death minis from em4. You could fleet scale minis. I guess it doesn't matter the scale. Just as long as the ships looks functional for that scale. Example, i would not use an X-wing to stand in for a freighter; it obviously looks like a fighter, but a Nebulon frigate could stand in for a large or a small freighter. The GM sets the scale and frames the setting for the players. So, basically, whatever will work for you and your players. I know, alot of blather to say
Whatever you want. <shrug> -ZG |

Heck, use legos, to build a fleet. Go check out the Brick Gallery for ideas, amazing things people do with legos. -ZG |

Better still, you could use the Silent Death:The Next Millennium mi is from *us,* as there's over 100 of them, from small fighters to small freighters, gunboats, and escort class vessels. Just sayin'

I always wondered if the plunder rules could have worked in a game with actual ships and a larger playing area. Dan |

So Dan, how does it play? Being a sucker for such things, and a huge fan of Pipers Space Viking I had to down load it. Is it playable or does it need work to work? owen |

Instead of playing the DwarfStar game itself, my suggestion is to pick and choose the few meaty portions of that game, such as the cargo and plunder ideas, and use them to enrich a faster playing game that you are already familiar with and like. Dan |

A while back there was a website with some lovely Starfire Miniatures made from golf tees. With a little effort, a dremel and a vise you could make cool fleets from various craft bits and such. |

If you're doing a 15mm skirmish game with fewer units that have more individual character overall, then it seems like doing the fighter-scale (1:300) would translate the best. |
