Litko makes its movement trays either exact or "roomy" with 3mm extra on depth and width. What is your experience with these? I BELIEVE I would prefer exact fit, but worry that it will be too tight if the bases or the tray is off by even a mm, whereas I worry that the "roomy" option will result in too much blank space showing from underneath. Opinions?

I would be using Litko wooden bases on my figures, so in all likelihood the bases will be more consistent than GW bases often are.

I've always used the "snug." Never had a problem. I use both the Litko bases and the movement trays, though.

So they are not too tight for the bases to easily put in and pull out? Do you use flex steel/magnetized bases? Sometimes that extra pull creates problems in tight spaces.

I have always opted for roomy and don't have a problem. My miniatures regularly get used by other wargamers with what appear to be massive bionic fingers so I would dread to think what would happen to my babies if they were snug in those movement trays when the time comes they have to be pulled out into a different formation in the heat of battle!

I had not thought about the problem of other gamers. This would be for my fantasy figures and hopefully gaming with my kids.

Roomy. Had a bad luck once with the exact movement trays (glued one of the sides slightly off so my figures could not all fit).

Roomy avoids that possibility and really doesn't change anything to the look of a unit.

Thanks for asking this question…I've been meaning to ask about it for ages and am getting to the point where I can use them.

Since you actually glue the "sides" to the movement tray you can leave a little flex for your figure bases.
