Hi guys, looking through my paint collection for a suitable green for my Orcs, and picked this blast from the past, the scary thing is, I have a lest a couple of dozen older pots from the early 90s, wonder if they are still good. link

I have a GW paint set from when Terracotta was a base coat for Blood angels. |

Worth a try. I've got 30 year old tins of enamel that are still useable. |

I still have some of the old hexagonal pots of Citadel Paint (made now by Cote D'Arms I think) that are twenty five years old. They are still fine. Much better than the newer product in my opinion. |

I have a few dozen Citadel paints from the late 80s, plus the original inks. They all work just fine. I've never had one dry out. |

I still use Ral Partha Dragon Tongue Purple – may dry out, but add a bit of water and it is good to go. |

If they're in that style paint pot (or the follow on with the hexagonal paint pot from the same soft plastic), they should be fine. It's the hard plastic hexagonal paint pots that dried out quickly. |

I am still using my 1980s and 90's GW paints. I think they realised the paint was keeping to long and stuck it in those new crap pots to make it dry out. Those GW bastards. |

Yep, it was the hard plastic screw top ones that used to dry out. They were designed to look like bolter shells to give them a cool factor, but they wouldn't seal properly, so they weren't fit for purpose. Classic design over functionality fail. Sadly for conspiracy theorists it wasn't a plan on GW's part to sell more paint. When they realised the problem they replaced with lids that didn't look cool, but did at least keep your pain useable. I still have several of those old paints like the OP (including Goblin Green) that I still use, when they run out I replace the with the Coat D'Arms ones which are the same product (the "bolter shell" ones were a different (French) manufacturer). |

On the upside, the lids have a lot of uses such as adorning terrain buildings. I think they'd make nice display bases for 25mm figures too. |
