Can anyone provide a resource which shows the regimental standards of German and Russian Infantry regiments in 1914. I have found several references to standards being flown during the early engagements in august 1914 and was thinking of using that as an idea to differentiate command units in my 1914 era forces If you click the leuchttisch tab there is also evidence of them being carried on the western front again early 1914

Flags were used by some units as late as the battles in the Race to the Sea and some of attacks near Nieuport in October 1914. I don't have any references to the range of flags. Robert |

Thanks to both of you. The nice people over on the Pendraken Forum (even Shawn T visits :)) found some for me as well as providing a link to colour examples in English Some examples into early 1915 in the West and much later in the East and Macedonia (1916 pic shows cavalry standards being carried) |
