If you wanted to start an army of battle droids now, would you:

* get droids a bit at a time from places that sell singles?
* watch ebay for lots?
* use a proxy? what?
* else?

I wouldn't want to spend a lot on battle droid figures. However, my son has some Stormtroopers (I know, they're not clone troopers), and I thought it would be fun to have an opposing army. I sent a birthday wish link to someone for a lot on ebay, but that didn't happen. Is a reasonably priced lot that is well rounded (mostly in terms of droid figures) common, so if I watch for a while I'll see more?

The skewed prices from the collectible nature of the original game don't appeal to me. If I buy piecemeal, I'd have to buy some of the more interesting figures at their inflated prices, too. But that I wouldn't be adding a painting project definitely appeals.

Or I could just match him up against my Frogs (Critter Commando figures) or something else I have around. That didn't seem to appeal to him as much when we tried once before.

I may not be likely to actually move on this, but just curious what folks do nowadays if they want a bunch of figures from an old (?) collectible game.

thanks
andy

Look for lots of "commons" to fill the ranks and pick and choose for those special or unique figures. Ebay is ok for that, but you be suprise what is selling in your town. Here in Tucson, there is a chain of stores called "Bookmans", a place where people sell back books, CD, movies, etc and collectables. Every so often someone is dumping their collection and the sale is always real cheap. Maybe something simlar where you are at.

Good luck!

What size are you after? I have some droids and clone troopers from the Risk game I am looking to sell

If your son didn't already have storm troopers I would say do it in 15mm. There is a lot of stuff that works in 15mm for many star wars armies.

This about what you are looking for?

I don't think I will use these, so if you still want a droid army drop me a PM. :)

Nice Pedrobear. I have a bunch of those droids from Wizards of the Coast stuff. What are the multi leg type minis just to the right of the droids?

Andy, I would go with the Wiz Coast stuff off eBay. Always lots of them on eBay and they do the job fine. You can buy singles in groups from eBy sellers like Avengers Rule or Strikezoneoneline and tailor your army to your tastes as opposed to buying lots which are probably only marginally cheaper. Most eBay sellers will combine shipping which eliminates that issue when buying singles over lots.

I have plenty of clone troopers and driods I'd trade for storm troopers if you wanted to.

Those are crab droids. There are actually two versions of them in the SW collectible game, one large and one the size in the photo above.

I picked this combination because I wanted an army with the same colour throughout.

These aren't the droids you're looking for.

:)

Sorry someone had to.

For my self I did things a little different.

Back in 2008 after WOTC released Knights of the Old Republic I decided to do the Battle of Grassy Plains from Episode I.

But in order to do this I had to build 2 Armies first the Gungan Army and the Droid Army.

A lot of the Gungans and Droids I got were from trades since I had extras of Very Rare and Rare SW figures I was able to amass the 2 armies.

The other way I was able to buy boosters and also get some off EBAY.

So my Gungan Army stands at around 300 figures and my Droid Army is between 300 and 400 figures.

I've run my Grassy Plains game so far 7 or 8 times at local conventions.

I think I have the biggest Gungan army and also the biggest Droid army.
