Does anyone have any recommendation or have one they want to get rid of? Thanks |

I have a number of them I want to sell. Three of them are in Russian with English captions. They are full of B&W photos and have a number of color prints as well. I will warn you that they are not cheap, and the Russian Import source I got them from does not have them anymore, so I believe they are pretty hard to find. I'll be able to give you more information this evening if you are interested. |

This is a recent book on how the conflict started and some very interesting points about both armies: link There is a fascinating chapter with the author's theory that this battle is what changed Japan's WW2 strategy to turn south instead of attacking north against Russia during Stalingrad. Highly recommended. |

Yeah, "Nomonhan: Japan Against Russia, 1939" is the first book I think of on the subject. |

Nomonhan: Japan Against Russia, 1939 by Alvin Coox is considered the bible. Nomonhan, 1939: The Red Army's Victory that Shaped Word War II by Stuart Goldman Nomonhan: Japanese-Soviet Tactical Combat 1939 by Edward Drea can be found online for free And there are other papers/pdfs available online as well as personal sites with good information. |

Coox's book is good, but it's not exactly a light read. It is to be studied rather than read. |
