The Ambush Alley web site is having a bit of a problem so I post my question here. I am considering working up a WW II scenario using Force on Force as the rules. Why, you might ask with so many other good WW II specific rule systems out there? Well for one thing I am planning on running more than a few games at Historicon I think the Force on Force/Ambush Alley system makes for a good convention game. So any of you run WW II using Force on Force and if so how did it go?

I have done some test skirmishes and it should be pretty seamless. Just be reasonable working up your tank stats.

Originally, Force on Force was designed as the WWII versio nof Ambush Alley, before they combined the two games.

Have run many games set in WWII and played in quite a few and have never had a problem. Fast paced and easy to teach so cons are a great place to run this ruleset.

Hi, Force on Force works very well for world war 2. Check the Ambush Alley games forums, there are some excellent posts on how to use them for WW2 including player derived vehicle stats.
All the best,
George

I think it'll work fine.
We plan on running some tank vs. tank games set in 1942 North Africa, using Force on Force.
Working on the tank stats and Troop Quality and Morale.
Good Gaming;
Joe

Thanks guys like a said the Ambush Alley web site is currently on the fritz so I cannot get into the forums but will do. Josep123 in fact I am planning on converting a scenario that have run multiple times successfully using Disposable Heroes set in 1942 North Africa. I figure the ubiquitous British 2 pounder would be a light AT gun with an AP of zero and an anti-tank of three and of course considered light. 3d8 for front armor would be about the standard for things such as Pz IIIs.

Ah the Ambush Alley site is back up and a cornucopia of WW II ideas and information. Thanks gang.

Queen Catherine I could not agree more. I always strive to have a back story for any game I run in particular for a convention game. One reason I like the Ambush Alley system is that it less about charts and more about troop quality and morale and it has detail without too much to bogs down play. Players can get into the rules pretty quick and most games are running themselves by the second turn. Since 28 mm is my size of choice this will be a 28mm game and the setting will have lots of terrain. After all even a desert has rocks and gullies and brush and sand dunes. Although my scenario will feature a Roman ruin which will be evocative all by itself.

Run Force on Force W.W. II games all the time in all types of terrain, never a problem.

Just ran one game using the rules that was French Indo-China, Dien Bien Phu hilltop fight.

You have all convinced me and last night I worked up some down and dirty stats for troops and vehicles. I was amazed at how easy it was to figure out. Here are some examples and I will of course tweak after I do a couple of test games.

Afrika Korps:

TQ/Morale D8/D10

Normal supply and Highly Confident (this is April 1942)

222 armored car The main gun a 20 mm KWK 30 L55 autocanno would be AP 4/AT 1(L) The co-ax MG-34 would have an AP 3

Armor: Front:2D6, Side:2D6 Rear:1D6 Deck:1D6

Pz II Same weapons as 222 plus a hull MG with same stats

Armor: F:2D8 S:1D8 R:1D6 D:1D6

Pz III E main gun AP3/AT3(M)this is the 37 mm
co-ax and hull MGs are AP3 each
Armor: F:3d8 S:2D8 R:1D8 D:1D8

Australians/British

TQ/Morale D8/D8
