Having some fun working on the big Ultra class combat units. Basically our games version of an Ogre or Bolo. Started with the Germanic factions designs. The one I had done first ended up looking like a armed land yacht…bluch !
Today was inspired by the WW2 Ratte. Used that for the general look but used the E-100 side profile. Separate quad tracks on both.

Wow! Those look pretty big in 3mm. Why the " helo deck" on the back of the 2nd one? VLS would be a better use of the space IMHO. Also need more all around fire power. With them being that big you are bound to be attacked from all sides at some point. You have no turrets that can cover your rear. |

Right now it is just empty real-estate. BUT, I really did think about a helo/vtol pad. The middle is the planned zone for the VLS.
"Also need more all around fire power." Indeed. There will be more of the mid sized ball turrets. Also plan to ring the lower lip of the hull with anti-personel gatlings. My plan with the hull though is to show the larger structural sections and not any finer detail. On Shapeways, I dont know. I am having severe heartburn with them since they moved the operations to New York. The intention is to have this as a mini done in resin with metal bits and treads where-ever I end up have done at. Hopefully at IWM like the starships. |

Maybe make a "channel" in place of the empty space on that BOLO and make modular turrets/Sections to fit on that tank. |

I think these are great, but I would suggest adding HEIGHT. Something Ogre-sized isn't going to hide in the folds of the earth. They would look intimidating as heck if they had a huge tower/bridge/some height. Excellent, though, otherwise. |

The Jormungand is the most convincing so far. Much as I love Ogre, I'm not such a huge fan of the "gun protruding from perfect sphere" look – something more stodgy and conventional, with lots of turrets, would be nice to see. To wit:
