"Aircraft damage markers x 1. these come fitted with a tiny hook so they can be attached to model aircraft. Great for WW1 aircraft. These are hand made and painted by Peter Day. We try to keep a buffer stock for shows and orders but please bear with us if stocks run low as it takes time to make and paint these by hand."

Great visual impact & useful as a damage marker: what's not to like?

My thoughts exactly! And I imagine you could hook them over the wing of a WWII plane and they would look fine.

Alternatively cut tapered pipe cleaners in half and fold the narrow end to make a hook.

That would definitely be the thrifty way to go! Personally, I just use cotton. It isnīt so dramatic, but it works.

For 1/300 gaming I have always used pipe cleaners. White for light damage, black for heavy damage and red for, oh darn ya got me, bail out

Just my nickles worth of dimes

Here is another take for 1/300 – 1/350 scale. Using a piece of clear plastic sheet (or the front of a blister pack). Cut the sheet "flame" shaped and paint it. Cut a slit that will clip onto the wing like a clothes peg.
