I'm looking for books on the decline/fall of the Soviet Union. Do you folks have any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

Not a book but a game, that I am sure it has some of the history in its card notes.

Perhaps there is more info in the game rules booklet.

Maybe ask this question on this games forum on Board Game Geek

Ithe 90s, as an undergrad in a 20th C Russian history class, we read Why Gorbachev Happened by Robert Kaiser. I haven't re-read it since, but as I recollect it was a very readable account of how Gorbachev lost control of the reforms he instituted. Kaiser was a bit favorable of Gorby. I've not kept up with that part of history for more recent works.

You might want to wait just a bit. A Mr. V. Putin is reputed to be working on a definitive re-write.

I would recommend "Armageddon Averted "

It covers the period up to 2000 with some information on the Soviet Military and their reaction.
